I thinl it is because the only belief that you share is in the dogma of redemption. If that dogma is indisputable then why are you not unified instead of being splintered into so many different denominations?

It's not that Christians do not acknowledge that there are other believes. It's that as a Christian, I choose to believe in One god. My pastor put it this way, that people of other faiths come to know the Divine through symbols and beliefs other than that of Christianity. But many Christians feel threatened when asked to recognize a non-Christian religion; I don't think they've been taught the way my pastor put it.

Just because there are a lot of different denominations in Christianity doesn't mean that the Church is divided. If you have talked to someone and they told you that then they are greatly miss lead. If one Church places a greater emphasis on baptism or Spiritual gifts than another, it doesn't mean that they have a different belief.
We (Christians) for the most part should be united on the essentials, things like the virgin birth of Christ, the death, burial and Resurrection on the third day of Christ. Jesus blood atonement (redemption), etc.. We should express liberty with one another on the none essentials, Baptism, foods, Sabbaths, and all those other things not necessary for salvation. But in all things we should show love for one another.
The Church has some how survived over 2,000 years despite all the different denominations and movements. You must look at the different facets of the Church like you look at the human body. There are lots of different parts which do specific things, the hand builds, writes, holds, etc., the feet kick, help one to stand, wear socks and stink. Now each member of the body has a different purpose, they work independently for the most part of each other, but not of the whole body. So it is with the Church, many different parts but all members of the same whole. We have become altogether separate.

We believe that there are plenty more beliefs and religions. As well as superstitions. We believe in one truth.

You make a great observation of different denominations but that's valid because some churches prefer to glorify utilizing one gift over the other (ex. more music, more prayer, etc.)- the only important thing is that they acknowledge that Christ is the ONLY way.

Many churches are not churches any more. They are mostly platform of shows once a week.

A church glorifies God, heals, equips, forms communities and goes to the ends of the world to proclaim the good news.

I've never found it hard to believe that there are other religions out there. In fact, I've attended many of their services.

As for denominations, they don't bother me. You can't pitch the ball the same way to everyone. Different people are reached by different methods. Some want loud, hand-clapping music, and others would be very put off by that. Christians, like every other belief group, have different ways of worshiping.

There are other beliefs held by all kinds of people. We do need to find the truth that does represent our worldview.

Ave Girl, have you studied the transmission of ancient texts or textual criticism. There is amazing accuracy from the over 5,000 manuscripts in which some date back to right after the death of Jesus.

The term faith is used which allows non-believers to add something like a "leap of faith". I am not taking a leap of faith but see evidence for Jesus in the worldview that we are in. This allows me to trust or have "faith" in what I believe.

I could be wrong because i'm human but I do not think I am after carefully looking at the evidence for a Creator and Jesus Christ.

I'm Christian and I know perfectly well there are other beliefs then my own. The different denominations are simply different interpretations on what the Word of God says. There are some beliefs out there that despite not being Bible based, I think are really beautiful. I think that what it all comes down to is not really the words, it's simply God and whether you believe in Him or not.

We know there are other beliefs, just not true ones. That is, if what Christ did and said were true, it cotradicts the others making them either wrong or Christianity wrong. The odds are with Jesus.

As for denominations, sometimes it's a good thing, sometimes it isn't. Why are there so many flavors at Baskin-Robbins? Why can't they just have one flavor ice cream??? I mean, if they are all just cream and sugar, why can't they all get along??

Im a christian and i guess some people can be like that. But Im not, I mean we should believe in what ever we want but accept that not everyone sees things like we do. I know that God is real but I also accept that there is people who dont and that think differently.
Well... just dont get a bad image of us : ) God bless!

There are many denomintaions.
But there is only one Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Some people choose to take the word of the Lord like its a smorgasborg take what they want , and what they don't want they don't use.

But it doesn't change the fact the He is the King of Kings, Lord of Lord.

He is God, and no means of measurement can define his limitless love and no man can explain him if he tried.

It doesn't matter in whom others belief in there is only one Lord God Jehova.

Actually, your view isn't quite right. Christians DO believe that there are other beliefs. What they DON'T believe is that other beliefs have any validity. You know, it's that whole "If it isn't of GOD, than it has to be THE DEVIL" nonsense.
