Do I have to file taxes if I only worked a job for one day and quit? 4 hour shift. Is there a rule that says you only have to file taxes if you made a certain amount of money that year? I'm young and so new at this sorry. Thanks for your help

It's not how long you worked, it's how much you earned. Here's an IRS site that will help. If someone else can claim you as a dependent then you probably don't, but you might want to get any money withheld back. Up to you.

Yes, there's a limit that if you make less than that, you don't have to file. If you're a dependent of your parents, then the limit is $5150 - I guess you wouldn't have made that much in four hours, or you wouldn't have quit! ;-}

You don't have to apologize for asking - it's a fair question. But no, you don't have to file. And I doubt that they took anything out for federal income taxes either, so there's nothing to be refunded.

Better luck with your next job.....

Generally, no, you would not have to file. Are you under age, and were any taxes taken out of your earnings? If so, I would file any way just to get that money back.

No you do not have to file and if you have to pay to file then I wouldn't. I don't think you would profit after paying the tax preparer.
