No, why? There are quite nice townhouses, and also single folks often live in smaller homes, I wouldn't want to live in a huge house if I had billions, I'd just have to clean it and deal with all the upkeep. The size of a house doesn't always say much about people's financial status.
If a neighborhood is very bad -dirty, noisy, high crime- or if people lived in a small home with a huge family, then I'd be more likely to assume the people are poor for living like that, but not based on the size or even the price of the house only.

It's 3,100 sq feet. That's not a cheap townhouse. No, townhouses aren't "poor people housing." Many townhouses cost a lot of money! Especially in Manhatten, NY!

No.
I live in a townhouse because this way the condo association takes care of gardening, garbage and snow shoveling, and I like the smaller space. I don't like big houses.
There are townhouses in all levels of neighborhoods, I suppose, but mine's in a nice neighborhood. It's not Beverly Hills, but I like where I live.
You're jumping to quite a conclusion here.

I used to work as a real estate appraiser and have appraised townhouses that were well over the 1 million dollar range, so no I don't consider them poor. I know many financially wealthy people that live in very modest priced homes.

No. A townhouse is just another housing option. People decide where they want to live based on their personal needs-- space, maintenance requirements, price, location. I live in an apartment. Does that make me poor?

we lived in a townhouse for 6 years. It was our first house, but our neighborhood was full of first houses, retirees, and families. We moved for a few reasons, our son was growing and we wanted a real back yard, the house layout wasn't working for us anymore, and (the real reason) we wanted a better school system.

You kidding? Have you priced those babies..they just do not want to bother with yard work, maintenance and such! Too busy living and working and having fun...or too old for any of the above!
