Because they have nothing better to do with their time then to try and tick others off. I'd hate to think that my life was that boring, that I had to try my best to make others mad.

the first guy has it right, it's not about caring what the other side believes PRIVATELY. But both sides feel the other is shoving their beliefs into everyone's faces, and that things are becoming worse as a result. People are literally worried about the end of the world. The day we aren't passionate about that is the day it happens.

I'm a Christian and I don't "hassle" atheists. I was put on this earth to TEACH people about God and his mercy. You are wrong if you call that hassling. That is why we are here. And I care what other people believe because I want to see everyone, including myself, go to Heaven someday to spend eternity praising the Lord Almighty.

Have you ever seen sports fans argue about which team is the best? Kind of like that. Neither side can ever possibly win the argument because one cannot prove nor disprove the existence of God. They figure that if they can weaken the other side's argument that they have reached a moral victory. People naturally want confirmation that their own beliefs are correct. And especially with the advent of the Internet, no matter what you believe, you can find someone to agree with you and "prove" that you're right.

Because the people who call themselves "Christian" and fight with anyone not Christian, believe that faith is a popularity contest and by shear numbers they can be right. Atheist are the same way, but it's the lack of faith or proof in nothingness that is appealing, and buy shear numbers and force of will they can be right. The is only one being (or several if you are polytheistic) that really know why were are. Even if god's real name is Gravity, something had to start it, right?

CHRISTIANS, we shouldn't decide Atheists because they don't have self assurance in God. we are all entitled to have self assurance in what we prefer to. For lots of the Christians: We should not be telling human beings in the adventure that they'll hell or no longer. it is not any longer our opinion, it really is Gods opinion. God taught us to no longer decide human beings. ATHEISTS.:We shouldn't decide Christians and tell them what to have self assurance in and that the Bible is a fairy tale, it is not any longer effective. i'm no longer ON each and everybody'S facet. i'm merely declaring WE shouldn't decide human beings.

Because they are Human. This is what they have in common.
Im Atheist, and yes,if a Christian starts shoving bible passages down my throat I WILL retaliate. We expect each other to be like 'Oh,damn, youre right!'.And I would never tell anyone to change what they believe in if they are satisifed with thier own.

If you are not Christian you are not athiest. In fact there are very few athiests in the world. And agnostics are those who believe there is a higher power but do not name it.
There are some folks in some forms of several religions, however, who take it upon themselves as their proselitysing right to object to the beliefs of those who do not believe as they do.

I can't speak for atheists. But as a Christian, of course I care what people believe because how they believe determines the level of joy they experience today and what will happen tomorrow.

It's the eternal struggle for right vs. wrong... each side believes they are right and the other side is wrong, no matter how much they say otherwise.
I only care... TRULY care... when the other side insists I believe as they do and they pass laws to MAKE me believe what they do (saying "Under God" in the pledge, making marriage one man and one woman, making abortion illegal because it kills a soul, etc.). THEN I really care what they believe because it affects how I live my life.

Because we Christians believe that it is one of our purposes to spread the word of God; thus they fight to do so and Atheists argue trying to do the same, but with their ideals
