I think each person's depression can be different with different symptoms.
If this is indeed depression, you cannot just sit there on the computer, you need an assessment. I don't think you're lazy or a jerk. You are having trouble concentrating for some reason, and it's been going on for 3 months. Were you lazy or procrastinating before the 3 months? No, not if you can pinpoint about how many months you've been like this. Something's happened to make you like this. You mentioned that you haven't told your professors the real deal, have you even told us all your symptoms?
You need to find someone you can really open up to so you can get the proper evaluation and proper treatment.
If you did have the willpower to change, then how come it's not happening? Don't keep waiting around, because if you do, and if it is depression, there is a possibility that it could become disabling and severely affect your ability to live. Even if it's mild depression, can you see yourself continuing like this, failing? What's going to happen next? You can take medicine for mild depression too.
Or it could be something else. People on Yahoo answers should not be your only means of diagnosis.
And if you had the willpower to change, you could have tried to get the grades and found something you like to do, a passion for something that will motivate you enough to get up and get going, whether or not this is depression.

If you're having trouble concentrating, try eating well and staying away from caffeine. As crazy as it sounds, I had problems for years that revolved around caffeine and I had no clue!
I didn't sleep well at night, felt tired in classes, couldn't focus, etc. I thought I was lazy or depressed, too, even though I didn't have anything to be depressed about.
You should also take care of your mental health. Take some time to do something that you find joyful and/or relaxing. Volunteering can be hard work, but can also leave you feeling rejuvenated, so that might be something to look into, as well.
You also need to think about what YOU want. Too many people go to college because their parents want them to, but they don't do well because they don't know what they want, yet. Reevaluate your goals and make sure they're YOUR goals and not someone Else's.

i totally know what u mean...thats how i've been for the past like 5 or 6 years...i just like daydream or sleep thru classes if i even show up...like never turn in assigments or turn them in weeks later then they should be...and yet i can laugh anytime and im usually in a pretty good mood...i love hanging out with friends and partying and all that...but sometimes i can become depressive and pessemistic...
i dont really think its depression...its just bordom with life...i mean sometimes it just kinda seems like there's nothing to strive for...i mean u see the same friends everyday, u go to the same parties, hook up with the same kind of guys who all do the same kind of stupid **** (girls in ur case i guess lol), then u go back to the same classes, same teachers, same everything...its like nothing interesting ever happens...it not wierd to become apathetic when u feel like u've done it all and nothing interesting is gonna happen anytime soon...and ur definatly not a jerk (although from my personal experience that is how most professors perceive this kind of attitude)...i would say just take it easy and think of what u really want in life...and remember the fact that once u get out of college, things are gonna change...i mean u'll find some interesting job, u'll probabaly have a family and so on...just try to keep that in mind...i mean even though im lazy and apathetic i still know that education is one of my goals in life...so i make myself do at least well enough to get thru it...oh and btw how come all this suddenly came up 3 months ago?...did u go thru like a breakup or some other major event in ur life?...cuz if thats the case that might be the reason why ur off track now...u can try to see a counselor or psychiatrist...just make sure ur truthful with them!...good luck!...if u ever need to talk my email is luvaball43@yahoo.com
P.S. a confidence boost never hurts either...the more confident u feel about urself the more likely u are to care about ur goals in life and to work towards achieving them!

From my own personal experience, I would say you are definitely depressed. I asked my therapist -"what is wrong with me that on weekends all I do is lay on the couch and do nothing? Am I just lazy?" He said that this is one of the symptoms of depression. You also say your educational goals no longer stimulate you and that you are having trouble concentrating - both also symptons of depression. Perhaps you should check out counseling.

If you were depressed, you'd feel emotional pain. It doesn't sound like you're depressed; just lost. I have really bad depression, and what it feels like to me is a big HEAVY blob of sadness and hurt in my chest, and then it spreads throughout my entire body. All I want to do is sleep to escape and I don't even care about anything and hate myself. That's depression. If you're feeling like the things that I listed above, then you probably are depressed. If that's the case, I'd be happy to talk to you about it because I've been there and go through it everyday. I hope you feel better.. email me sometime.

Balloon, college isn't for everyone. but you must weight you options. Consider your future. Is there something you can do as a career that doesn't require extensive coursework. Or do you need to go to school to get what you want in this life. You ain't depressed, you need a change or a wake up call. No, you are not depressed, you are bored. Move on.

I don't think you are a jerk or you wouldn't care about yourself or school. You may be depressed because this is how we feel when it happens. Just loss of interest tells us we need to seek professional help. Good luck.

Your nothing, go beg in the street and i may give you a quarter.
Prove me wrong, or go get a cup and start practicing.
No one told you life is easy, so either get with the program or get a cup and start checking out street corners.
