Why is the number of african americans enlisting in the Military on a drastic decline?

I'm black and joining the Army Infantry but I was doing some reading and I was upset to found out the numbers of blacks enlisting was decreasing


Is this why in all the ads there seems to be a over representation of blacks?

In your opinion why are blacks not joining as much?

Because we as a people don't believe the propaganda. I have had 4 family members in the service through the years and all four have told me not to go. They said that service was not what it use to be. Our military use to be a great tool of defense. Now it's just at the beck and call of American business interest. We have our nose in other peoples business too much. This was the great lesson Vietnam taught. I specifically did not join the Marine Corp because I realized that the military was becoming the guard dog of our business interest worldwide. Look closely at the world and where our military is and has been for the last 30 years. We only deploy if money is at stake. We could give a rats azz about Democracy or we would have invaded the Middle East the day after WW2 ended.
Look at Grenada, and Bosnia and Iraq and Afganistan and Libya and even N. Korea. It's not Communism, or Terrorism or even Genocide that get's our leaders attention ...it's the fact the someones' not buying our crap and not obeying or charging too much for theirs and being openly defiant that pisses us off.

Army for 15 yrs. In 1985 - out 2000. 6 yrs Infantry. Never saw a decline then. Dont know about now. Haven't heard from anyone I know that's still in about a decline. Once the Iran conflict begins I'm sure there will be plenty of guys to your left right front and rear. Hope so, if they plan to go on the ground you're gonna need all the brothers from other mothers you can get. Once you're in, you're all green so skin color wont matter. Stay alert & stay alive.

Don't generalize information like this. Unless you have cold hard facts from the Department of Defense I would give this thinking a rest. All people from all walks of life race, gender and economic and educational background enlist or join the military. Once you are truly in the service you will quickly learn there are no genders or races, just Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Airmen and Coasties. Start looking at your service through those eyes and you will have a much better and productive time in the service and in life in general. We are all human beings regardless of anything else.

blacks like the whites are getting smarter now than ever before, all realize that we fight for freedom alright but not our freedom we fight so that others such as illegals in this country get to live off of us and we think it is about time that others do their fair share, it would be interesting to see if the illegals would fight for their citizenship as in serve in the armed forces. I served my time and I appalude you joining the Army i hope you will be save and come back in one piece

Any black with half a brain goes into supply ,they are lazy ,and cowardly and they know there is less chance to get shot in supply and a lot of things to steal.
