I have never owned a hair straightener. My mom was kinda against me "damaging my hair". But my friends straighten theirs all the time and theirs is fine. I finally talked her into it.
Heres the problem....I have no idea which ones are good and which ones are bad.
I want a wide straightener becuz my friends use them and it works on my hair better.
Other than that though im lost.
Pleeeeeeeeeeeease help me!!!

The best out there is the CHI, Solia and Sedu. Go to folica.com and that's where they sell them and other hair straighteners (has reviews of each product as well). These are very expensive though ranging from $80-130. I plan on getting the Sedu even though it's $118 but I heard a ton of reviews that it is so worth it. I have a Revlon one from Target but it kind of sucks. Also to prevent damaged hair buy a bottle of heat protector spray that you use when straightening hair.
Good luck!

Just make sure you get one with ceramic plates. Metal or "gold" plates will damage your hair more. I straighten my hair after every time I wash it.
Are you blow-drying it as well? My recommendation would be to let your hair dry naturally then use the straightener. Wash your hair before bed and let it dry overnight, then fix it in the morning before school or work. Use the blowdryer if it's still a little damp, but drying naturally will save your hair in the long run.

the best on the market is chi and it runs around $100. i think it does less damage and it makes your hair fell smooth and silky. i use this one at school, i have a revlon wet to straight that i got from wal-mart and it works almost like a chi to me as long as you don't do it wet if you have curly hair, cause it'll just make it frizz. also be sure to use a heat protecant to reduce damage.
