Different jurisdictions have different rules regarding whether and how literature may be left at doors, but in the United States there is strong precedent forcing jurisdictions to allow this for religious, political, and social "advocacy" (commercial publications are easier to restrict).
Ironically, Witnesses rarely leave unrequested literature behind at not-at-homes anymore ("ironic" because in most cases those precedents actually resulted from the legal battles of Jehovah's Witnesses). In areas where Witnesses are unable to call at homes regularly, they are more likely to leave behind unrequested literature.
A common misconception is that Jehovah's Witnesses go from door-to-door because they feel it is their duty to "recruit" a householder, or get him to "convert". In fact, Jehovah's Witnesses would go from door-to-door even if there were no hope that anyone would change their religion, or even if no one would listen to them!
That is because Jesus Christ specifically assigned the house-to-house ministry to the Christian congregation, with no regard for specific results.
(Luke 10:1,2) After these things the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos in advance of him into every city and place to which he himself was going to come. 2 Then he began to say to them: “The harvest, indeed, is great, but the workers are few. Therefore beg the Master of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.
Jehovah's Witnesses are trained to direct attention to the bible, and move on when their message is unwanted. Since each congregation in the United States tries to call at every home in its territory at least twice each year, there is strong motivation for them to move on where little interest is shown. Also, the Scriptures help the Witnesses to expect little interest from most:
(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching ...and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

What i like approximately being interior the "fact or the way", there's no repremanding for freely giving of a few time and displaying love. it is especially lots different religions and those that don't declare to have self belief in a God. Even Yahoo solutions are a exhilaration for us. Why? we'd go with to share what we've found out from the scriptures. it truly is the reason, no longer count what age, historical past, male or woman, wealthy or adverse, all of us talk the comparable recommendations. specific, we are very distinctive yet while it is composed of our faith, it truly is thoroughly unified. we could meet somebody each of how international huge and if all of us know they seem to be a Jehovah's Witness, we are at once sturdy acquaintances. Who can say that? I do like going door to door. i like people.

It's a personal decision whether or not we decide to leave a tract at someone's door when they are not home. I generally do not "stick it under" a person's door. I leave it under the doormat or in the screen door.
The reason for putting it in your door is they just don't want it to be visible from the street. We don't want to leave an indication that you are not home because that might invite some thief to rob you.
And as for a Witness robbing you. . .that's hilarious! If we don't celebrate birthdays, do you really think that we would break into the home of a perfect stranger and steal from them? We are known for being an honest people, not a gang of thieves.
Whoever you spoke to obviously didn't explain it properly, though I doubt he was as sarcastic as you would have us believe.
But either way, yes we are within our rights. If you don't like it, you can let us know and we will stop.

Why do people keep asking these kind of questions?
It is so sad that people have NO spiritual life today and they do not care about God or anything important from the Bible.
Jehovah's Witnesses do not come preaching at my house or leave anything because I am with them in the ministry and they do not need to. The fact that we leave things at your house shows that there is a need.

Technically, if you have a "No Solicitors" sign on your door, and they stick the literature in your door anyway, they are guilty of trespassing. My suggestion is to call the police the next time it happens, and have them advise the JWs you don't want to be bothered. If they persist, you can have the leader of the church fined. "Jesus Christ says it's okay" is not a justification for invading your privacy or the sanctity of your home. Such arrogance. Maybe if enough of the JWs get fined or put in jail for a month they'll get the idea they're not always welcome.

Technically, no. They are supposed to talk to you face to face, since that is truly "witnessing".
I learned this because I lived in a town where Jehovah's Witnesses were highly concentrated, and I was getting visitors to my house way too frequently. One day, I had my two young kids with me at McDonald's and I let them sit in their chosen seat while I went up to the counter.
A person claiming to be a JW saw my kids at the table and began to proclaim that they were going to eternal damnation. My daughter was old enough to understand partly, and she got all upset. I got rather irritated and after I calmed her down, I called up the Kingdom Hall and asked for their leader.
The lady on the phone said they have Elders, not leaders, so I asked to speak to the oldest elder they had.
I talked to a man and explained that I was terribly upset at the behavior of his community outreach team. I told him I agree that they have every right to practice their religion, but they are crossing the line when they are scaring little kids.
The man asked if he could explain a few things. First of all, JW's do not believe in the concept of "hell".
He said that witnesses are only supposed to talk face to face with adults.
They are supposed to get your permission to talk about their belief. If you say NO, they are supposed to thank you for your time and go away.
They are supposed to offer you their papers, but if you refuse, they are supposed to thank you for your time and GO AWAY.
They are NOT supposed to leave papers in your mailbox, under your door, or elsewhere because that is NOT witnessing.
They are not supposed to keep coming back to your house time after time once you have said NO.
They are not supposed to get smart with you, they are supposed to remain calm, yet firm. They believe they have an important message to share, and they may try to insist that you hear it, but if you refuse, so be it.
Some folks get a little too enthusiastic, and cross the line to pushy.
Sometimes, there are groups who go about pretending to be a JW, and really cause a ruckus. I found out that is what was happening at the McDonald's.

I believe your making things up to stir up trouble. We just fold or roll them and put them through the screen door handles or fold them and put them in the slit between the door and the jam. Alexandra/ hell is just the common grave of mankind and everyone dying goes there except the anointed of God.

Their main mission in this life time is to preach the truth, because they belive they're the chosen ones and will be the only ones saved by god, all the rest of us will perish in apocolyps. They're just trying to save as many of us as they can.
I guess they think they're on a mission and "No holds barred".
They don't care as long as they deliver "The Word."
I think they get brownie points for each flyer they deliver.

I guess if the police say it's ok then it must be since Jesus must have told them so...LOL!!!
NO- I believe it is not OKAY!
I sure don't believe it's ok to make up your own bible, not allow kids to celebrate birthdays, holidays or deny necessary emergency procedures either...
Glad not to be in their sect!
I would post a no solicitation sign...might help..
Can't hurt... I think their church is in dire need of low attendance and they are desperate to con people into their false beliefs...(but- to each their own)!
