Is it appropriate to take a newborn baby that may cry to a very small Reform Shabbat service on Saturday? I cannot get there for Friday nights. I am so worried about disrupting the other congregants. Rabbi has assured me that the baby will be welcomed, but I don't think the other congregants will appreciate any disruption(s). We don't have child care services either, or that would make life much easier. What should I do?

I was raised jewish, and all the times I've been to services, in general its not that big of a deal.

its actually taken WELL sometimes. when a baby squawks in some way at the right moment , sometimes gets a "well is that so?" sort of response, with a chuckle from most of the people.

there are some circumstances where its not good, but for regular saturday services, it shouldn't be a problem unless its constant and overwhelming.

At my church, small infants like that are always welcome in the service. In fact, they usually are the center of attention both before and after the service. If the baby should become disruptive, you simple take the baby out of the auditorium. Most buildings have some kind of an entranceway, classroom, or somewhere that you could take the baby until (s)he quiets down again.

I always set on the last row near the back entrance so that if the babies began to cry, I could get out quickly without much disturbance.
