The last several months, I get these pairs of people -- nicely dressed men, maybe two women with some kids -- coming to my door on Thursday mornings. They're nice enough, and they have their literature in hand, but all the eagerness just goes out of them when they see me and I say hello. Now, friends, I admit I don't look a lot like my avatar, but it's not my looks that's turning them off so much as I don't speak Spanish. Mind you, they speak perfectly good English, but they apparently don't want to spread the Good Word to damned souls like me; they'll even ask me for referrals of folks here who do speak Spanish, but then head out fast when I don't refer them to my next-door neighbors, whom they could meet if they'd just bother to knock.

I'm hurt, friends. What is going on here?

It's not an offense to you! They are simply from a Spanish speaking congregation in your area. They are looking for any Spanish speakers who live in your neighborhood. There are many more English speaking people that Spanish speaking, so they are searching out the minority that is often difficult to find.

They aren't ignoring you, by any means; they don't want to encroach on anyone else's territory. We divide up neighborhoods into territories so they are worked in an orderly and organized manner. And so we don't call on the same people on the same day or anything like that :D

If you are interested in speaking with a Witness, you are more than welcome to call the local Kingdom Hall. They would be more than happy to answer any of your questions :0)

It is nothing to do with you being a damned soul or that they do not want to spread the good news to you, the reason is most likely they have a Spanish speaking congregation in your area and are just looking for Spanish speaking people whom the want to give the good news in their own language. The Witnesses who come to your door may speak perfectly good English even though they belong to a Spanish congregation where only Spanish is usually spoken, I have done this myself I can speak perfect English yet a few times I did go with my Father who is in a different Language congregation and in that case it is as I said they go out searching for people speaking that Language to be able to talk to people in their own Language, in some cases they can speak perfect English but usually those who speak perfect English are speaking another Language at home with their parents and are in a different Language congregation who go and search out people from their own Language because most of them do not speak English very well and therefore feel inadequate to handle English, this is not a new situation and is a normal occurrence but if you would like to hear the Good news I will be glad to share it with you, no bother at all, just email me and I will get back to you with the good news any time you wish.

More than likely they were given your address by mistake, as being a Spanish speaking person who is interested. If you are interested, then let them know. They are not trying to snub you, chances are if they come on the same day each week they have an appointment with a Spanish speaking person, probably your neighbor. It is most likely some sort of claricle error. If you call your local Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses and let them know they will gladly fix things. Or the next time they come, tell them that it is your neighbor who speaks Spanish. They can then fix their records and then hopefully the next time we call on you it will be to talk to you:D

Don't be hurt. They are probably in a Spanish congregation and their territory only includes Spanish-speakers in your area. They probably don't realize that you are interested. Your address was probably given to them by mistake, and they think that you speak Spanish. I used to be in a Spanish congregation myself, and sometimes we make mistakes when trying to find people who speak Spanish. Just let them know next time and some one from the local English congregation will be at your door in no time!

Hey, Babs. Don't listen to any of these negative answers. If you're interested in what Jehovah's Witnesses have to offer, let them know you want to start a Bible study and see if they can arrange one for you. You'll learn that there is nothing negative about the things they say, as they are derived directly from the Bible. You will have everything positive to gain. :)

Please be careful. These people belong to a cult formed by a man named Charles Taze Russell. Russell claimed that Jesus Christ's second coming would occur sometime in the late 1800's. He was wrong. He also claimed Jesus was really the archangel Michael. Once again he was wrong . The Bible says when Christians get to Heaven we will be over the angels. That includes Michael. These people claim that only 144,000 people will get into Heaven. If that is so, why do they tell others about their religion? Doesn't that lessen their chances of getting in? Jesus Christ died for the sins of the world. You are not damned unless you reject him. I am praying for you now.
