where's good place for kayaking in southern california?

If you are somewhat good at it, The Kern River in Kern County. It is a killer river, and has killed around 150 people in the past 50 years, hence its nickname, The Killer Kern. They have kayake compitions there and the Upper kern has incredible white water with class 4 rapids. Its located in Lake Isabella, Ca. just east of BAkerserfield. A small town called Whisky Flats is the best spots.
