OK i have been asked my phone number once, but he said it was because his friend dared him to get *a* girls phone number, so I gave it to him. I was caught off guard and I didn't know what to do. anyway i was teased about giving it to him. I don't want to give out my phone number again, but maybe my email. If I get asked again what is a polite way to say no without completely destroying the guys self confidence????

well if your not comfortable giving him your number, why not give him your dads number? thats what i've done before. sometimes guys ask me for my number and i'm not interested and i do say "i'm flattered, but i'd rather not becuase i don't know you". or i'll just flat out say no, depending on the situation. but if those don't work, and the guy is persistant and doesn't leave me alone, i'll give out my dads cell number, and beleive me, they never call again. besides, usually a guy who asks for your number that you don't want them to have is most likely somebody that you just met at a random place, like the mall, and you most likely will not see them again anyway. if you don't have a dad, ask a guy friend if its alright to give out their number.

Honesty is best. If you want to give out your email just tell him he can have your email address and if you get to know each other better then definately your friends get your phone number. Maybe you can arrange through email to meet if you want or get to gether on the net and chat a bit. An email address is a way of making contact and could not be construed as an outright rejection, rather its a foot in the door for a young man who is willing to work at creating a relationship on some level. If you don't want to give your number or email ask for his instead or if you just don't want to make contact at all. Tell him your sorry but you only give your number to close friends. Why lie?

A fake number sucks. How would you like it if you spent an hour talking to me and asked if we could get to gether again and I gave you my number, you call it and get Farmer John's Pig Farm? I saw a girl get my friend's number and after he went ot the restroom she asked, "Its fake isn't it?" How many fake numbers had she got gotten. I say that SUCKS!

Have a couple of different phone number memorized. One should be something random, like the local Taco Bell. The other should be the phone number of a girl you hate. Give guys who you have no interest in the Taco Bell number. Give guys who are jerks your enemy's number (that way you throw a smackdown to both of them). Go get 'em!

Give it to him, just leave one number out. Or change one of the numbers. Like change a 6 to an 8 . Just an Idea.

Just dont say no men or more fragile than women to tell you the truth. It is so easy to crush a guy no matter how big or invicble i just found that out for my self today and i am still crying about it.

The easy way out is to just change one of the digits -- in other words, lie. But if you'd prefer to be an adult, be honest. Just tell him that you're not comfortable giving out your phone number to someone you just met and that it has nothing to do with him, specifically.

In that case you didn't need to worry about his feelings, just say something like, "I'm sorry, I don't hand out my number so someone doesn't lose a dare."....or.... "I'm sorry,my boyfriend might not like that."....or..... give him a wrong number.Or give him your own number and if he calls pretend its a wrong number.
