Yes SSI is federal. If you have an application in process and move, to another state or within the state, be sure to let the office know that's in charge of your application.

It's about as Federal as it gets.

The prefex numbers will show the area in which it is issued, and you can move about freely without it changing.

And only you and illegals will ever share that number for the rest of your life.
