According to the bible, god created Adam and Eve. They had two sons, Cain and Abel.....Cain killed Abel.....therefore Cain must have had sex with his mother to have children....therefore we are all inbreed. Furthermore if Cain didn't have sex with Eve to have children where did his wife come from? Thin air? Or did Eve bear a daughter and he married his own daughter..or do I have it all wrong and Adam and Eve had another child which was a daughter and Cain married and had children with his own sister?

Even though I am not Christian, I remember reading that they married women from the land of Nod. This has been a serious problem for many biblical scholars because it implies that there were other people. But I personally say that this just upholds the idea that there were other people and they had other religions.

Cain and Abel are not the only children of Adam and Eve. They had many other children, both male and female.

It is correct that Cain married his sister and thus had children with her. But what other choice did he have? There were no other people on Earth besides Adam, Eve and their children. It was necessary to the proliferation of the species.

Once the gene pool was diverse enough, it was no longer needed.

Edit: As for the Noah part, no it did not happen again with him and his family. If you read the account in Genesis, you will see that Noah's sons, Shem, Ham and Japeth, and their WIVES accompanied Noah onto the ark, along with his wife and the animals.

And it's 'inbred', not 'inbreed.' :)

Cain isn't even listed in Adam's geneology. The wife he took after rceiving the mark and leaving the land he grew up in was from the 6th day creation. If you read Genesis 2:5 you'll see that God created man and woman on the 6th day and rested the 7th and then He realized He didn't have a man to farm so He created Adam and Eve. If you read Genesis 6 you'll get a general idea of how this could happen. Pray for understanding. The blood line that Jesus was to come through had to be kept pure. God gave them Seth to replace Able who was slew by Cain, the first murderer and liar.

After a certain amount of time (after enough separate families were produced), God declared it wrong to be in an incestual relationship. Before that time, it was okay. Oh yeah, and Adam and Eve didn't only have two boys. They had other children, as well. They are just not included in the Cain and Abel story.

I have heard it argued by Christians that this was alright because the gene pool wasn't like it is now. That God allowed a certain amount of inbreeding, but after a certain point said no more because it would cause problems.

Personally - that sounds like a weak argument but it's the only one I've heard that even addresses this problem. Especially with what we know about the problems of inbreeding in modren times.

*edit* By the way, that mitrochondrial DNA 'evidence' that we are all from the same mother is under intense criticism from the scientific community. Apparently, the test wasn't as conclusive as we are lead to believe, there are many other factors and problems that were not considered and change the entire outcome. More then likely we had more then one ancestor. I can't imagine a gene pool being able to support imbreeding. Especially when the first humans came out of the same body!

Talk about same DNA.

The rules related to who would desire to sleep with whom got here into result for the period of the guidelines given to Moses. If Adam and Eve have been created appropriate then theoretically having toddlers by way of their toddlers does no longer have been a genetic nightmare, of direction over the years the mutations interior the genes would have made this undesirable. there is not any info interior the Bible that asserts that's what occurred, in fact no person fairly is conscious how the Earth have been given populated, we are able to basically assume that's a sort of 'would desire to appreciate' questions that we will understand the reply to as quickly as we die. that's completely achievable that God created different people on different areas of the earth, yet basically Adam and Eve are written approximately via fact they're the 1st, or the only ones who ate the forbidden fruit, who's conscious, for me it doesnt' remember how we've been given began, basically that God is actual and Jesus died for my sins.

According to evolution we are all inbred. From a single cell organism Billions of years ago. And it didn't come from thin air it came from raining on rocks from millions of years.

Yes Adam and Eve lived for hundreds of years and had sons and daughters. Adam and Eve were created from the dust of the Earth.

Either which way you look at it WE ARE ALL INBREDS.

The bible does not say. It is one of the bibles mysteries.

If it was not inbreed, then someone must have come from thin air. God must have made another family. According to the scriptures, Adam was made from the dust of the ground. So, incidentially, we are made from dust. Then eve was made from adams rib. And then so on.

Yes, Cain and Abel married their sisters. It's well known. We are all products of inbreeding according to the bible. Supposedly the gene pool wasn't corrupted in those days, and so it was okay. People lived to be 900 years old, after all! Or so they say.

Yes that is true. There must have been a certain amount of inbreeding at first to carry on the human race. I always wondered about that. Also there is another part of the Bible where the 2 daughters of the only descendant (forgot his name) had to carry on the human race so they had to get their father drunk...well you can imagine. Kind of creepy really.

Hey, that means we are all related to one another. How cool!
