Some is some isn't some of these diseases are caused by chemical imbalances in the brain, but to a certain extent your mind and the way you perceive things can make them worse or better.

The latest scientific data suggests that these problems are caused by imbalances of chemicals in the brain.

There is no blood tests they can give you to prove you have a chemical imbalance in your brain that I am aware of.

They put together a bunch of symptoms and diagnosis you that way.

Mental disorders are very real, and many are very treatable. As with most medical conditions, not taking the prescribed medications leads to problems.

The trick is to treat both the imbalance and the emotional issues with drugs and talk therapy.

By the way, epilepsy is not a mental disorder, its a neurological disorder.

Well sure its all in our mind, but not in the sense you are talking about. All those illnesses are from chemical imbalances in the brain, thus it's all in our mind. But these things aren't caused by us convincing ourselves that we are this way. Our minds are just the way they are. My ex-husband use to say that "There's nothing wrong with you, it's all in your mind." Well exactly, there lies the problem, my mind. Lots of people that have nothing wrong with them have a hard time understanding any kind of mental illness and addictions. Really, it's the same as telling someone with a brain tumor "It's all in your head", yeah well duh.

No it is not all in your mind. If you were to look at a PET brain scan you would be able see the difference immediately if someone showed you the scan of someone with problems and one of someone with no problems.
