depending on the car you are trying to use, I would think that a quick release on the wheels should do the trick...worst case scenario: you would have to take both wheels off, but that only takes about 2 minutes...folding bikes are garbage

Absolutely, with quick release wheel a bike can fit in almost any truck - provided that you don't drive a Smart. I would stay away from folding bikes. They are nice in theory, but often a little quirky to ride. They are great for people who fly a lot and want to have a smaller package for travel. But, 99% of riders can get away with quick release wheels.
One thing to keep in mind though. Buy a bike with quick release front and rear. Only the lower end of bikes these days would come with bolt on wheels. If you are going to be commuting on it, spend the money to get a bike that will last.

it more than likely will fit. worst case senario you will have to remove both the wheels, but even then, it's not that big of a deal. besides i would never consider buying a bike without quick release hubs as if you happen to get a flat while out riding you don't need any special tools to repair it. i have an audi A6 with a standard medium frame and he bike fits completely in the car with the back seats folded down.
your best bet is to erase all doubt and take your car to the bike shop when buying the bike and make sure it fits before buying. can't get more sure than that
good luck

Gimme Keep the quick releases. It makes your own efforts to change a flat more difficult. Use the Ulock as shown. Get at least a 1/2 inch cable. I like the Schalage 6 ft x 5/8 cable lock the is available at Lowe's..... probably else where too. Run the cable through the back wheel, frame seat and front wheel.. then through the fixed bike rack. If you are in a high loss area take the saddle with you... even the front wheel. Us the back pack you carried your locks in to put the saddle in. They will have to carry the bike off if they can defeat both locks! Soccerref

definetly a bike with quick release can fit in the trunk of a car if it has a big trunk or it the seats can pull down in the back. if that dosen't work it will fit enought to bungie cord the trunk to keep it down over the bike.
p.s.- quick release is a great idea if you ride alot or long distance. you can adjust the tightness without tools and change a tire in a snap!

Generally most bikes with the wheels removed will fit in a trunk. Kinda depends on the trunk.

Most will fit in most trunks if the seats fold down. Check it out with your local bike shop.

I have a VW Passat and a 58cm standard road frame. With both wheels off it fits in the trunk quite nicely. In fact it's in there right now, locked up and outta sight.
