ok folks i have asked this question around school and everyone i ask that know how quick tyson is, and how hard his punches are and know anything about boxing besides ali's name says tyson would win, cause micheal spinks bro beat muhammad ali, and micheal spinks was a undefeated chanpion and tyson took him out in 91 seconds...... also people say ali is to quick when ali fights he gets hit a lot, only takes 1 good combo from tyson to knock him out, so who would win

http://youtube.com/watch?v=zFf1Pcidex8 theres a link people say ali would win cause his speed but compare speed between him and tyson its about the same exept when tyson hits u its not just a fast hit that looks fancy

Ali in his prime would have exposed Tyson completely. If Ali took out the likes of Liston, Forman, Frazier, Norton and Shavers, all of whom would have destroyed Mike, Mike wouldn't have faired much better against Ali than the greats did.

I think that Ali will win any boxer you put him in the ring with when he is at his prime boxing he is to quick for tyson even if tyson is at his prime there is no way he would be quicker at punching than Ali Ali dose leve his guard down alot but it takes alot to knock the big guy down and he also has a hard hit I think this is a drowling hook and some great uppercuts and combos

Ali would be able to whether the fury of Mike Tysons punches, that's what made him so great. BUT... more importantly

HOW DARE YOU CALL THE ALI WHO FOUGHT LEON SPINKS A "PRIME ALI." Ali was at least 10 years past his prime and was still good enough to win the rematch. and by the way

what does the fact that Michaels Spinks got knocked out by Tyson have to do with anything and Ali never fought michael spinks, he fought Leon Spinks. It would be like saying the Roy Wallace, a man who went 24-35-2 in his career, would beat ali because he beat Ali's brother, Rudy Clay AKA Rahman Ali, who was also a heavyweight boxer.

Also, to say that Ali's punches were merely "fast hits that looked fancy" is a terrible falsity. while i in no way mean to say that Ali's power (or anyone else, for that matter) was equal to Tysons, Ali had deceptive power, which he achieved with his wrists.

In conclusion: Stop thinking you know anything about the sport of boxing, especially when it comes to Ali, because you clearly do not know squat.

This is an incredibly difficult question. However, it should be noted that Tyson always had problems defending against a taller fighter with a decent jab(Lennox Lewis, Evander Holyfield, Frank Bruno). Ali's fighting style relied heavily on the jab and a combinations of quick jabs. But Tyson could easily win this fight if he were to land pretty much any hard punch. To be quite honest, a prime Tyson could defeat any boxer if he landed just one hard shot. The only person who has ever had greater punching power than a prime Tyson was George Foreman, and he didn't defeat Ali despite landing tremendous punches. Ali demonstrated great stamina, a great chin, and amazing speed and these things would most likely give him the edge over Tyson.

I think you've watched too many Rocky movies to even think Tyson comes close to Ali in his prime. Sure Tyson had raw power and ferocity that could scare the pants off his opponents. But Ali was the master of smack talk, he could out psyche his opponents better than anyone and he could definitely push Tyson's buttons and p1ss him off so good, Mike wouldn't be able to think straight in the ring. Plus, Ali once fought with a broken jaw for 15 rounds(his jaw got broken in the first round if i remember right) and won by decision. And the crowd and his opponent didn't even notice it until it was announced in the news after the fight. That's why he's the greatest.

Tyson would win, but only the 1st match up, if they had a re-match then Ali would box smart ans prob win on points or late stoppage. Ali was a very proud fighter and never shyed away from the big punchers, but Tyson in his prime was a fearsome puncher and would probably catch Ali backing off chin up open to the left hook a la Henry Cooper, difference is Tyson hits alot harder. Although Ali had a fantastic jab i don't think it would be enough to keep Tyson away in the 1st 3 rounds or so and that's when he was at his most powerful, he had very good avoidance getting in close to a fighter then had the power to really damage his opponent once in range. Both are fantastic boxers, and defiantly the champs of their era, but in the end Tyson is prob fitter, stronger and certainly a harder puncher and think those factors would see him through/
Like i say in a rematch i think Ali would box clever and just make Tyson look like the little short armed heavyweight he was.

Ali was not scared , he had a hell of a chin and was a natural 220lbs..He was the best heavyweight of all time. You watch Ali in his prime other fighters could'nt even touch him. Hell Norton broke his jaw an Ali still went the distance.Ali always rose to the ocassion of a big fight HE WAS THE CHAMP!
Tyson was a hard puncher who brought disrespect to his sport. Biting a fellow boxer is not very classy or tough Its called cheating. Tyson had no heart NOT ONCE did Tyson get knocked down and come back to win the fight. Later in his career if you call what Tyson did in his later years as a thug BOXING, HE GOT K.O.ED HOW MANY TIMES. He sat on his *** an got counted out. Ali was never KOed. And Tyson was'nt the guy to do it.
Ali was a CHAMPION not a thug and he fought better compition than Tyson
Ali is the CHAMP

Alot of people like to compare Mike Tyson to a young George Foreman in this situation. But Mike was way better than Foreman. Mike was very quick and could lay you on your back with one punch. George Foreman had one punch knock out power too but was more of a brutal punishing boxer, as to where all of Tyson's punches could send you to the canvas. He's knocked some opponents out from pure jabs. I think a young Cassius Clay could beat Mike Tyson. Because he had the speed to hit, run, and hold tyson for 12 rounds. But I dont think the Ali that beat Foreman could beat Tyson. I just dont see that "rope a Dope" working on Iron Mike. All those body shots would have broke a Rib or something.

In most cases, the boxer always beats the brawler. Ali Vs. Tyson is the equivalent of Buster Vs. Tyson. Brawlers win within 6 or 7 rounds. Boxers go the distance and beat you in the end. You can thank B-Hop for that.

I think if boxers weren't so scared of Tyson, Tyson would have lost long before the Douglas Fight. I've reviewed a lot of Old Tyson fights. Its not that Tyson was a better fighter. It was more that his opponents were so damn scared!

I still think to this day that Larry Holmes should have beat Tyson if Holmes didn't get caught with that hook.

Ali still wins! Tyson would go for the knockout in the first 5 rounds, and Ali was only knocked down in the first 5 rounds once in his career, by Henry Cooper. Ali can out manuver, out hit, and out dance Tyson. Tyson would charge in like Sonny Liston did in the 2nd fight, and Ali would knock him out too!
