That would depend, not on the bible but upon your "religion" so you were completely right in calling this a religion question.

That is something you will have to look long and hard for. Many christians will sit here and throw the book at you talking about how god destroyed saddam and gamora. but think about what you know of history. the fact that the catholic church in 1000 ad were the people translating the ancient greek and hebrew manuscripts. now think about ancient greeks. do you really think their original text mentioned homosexuality at all? definitely not.

what you have is a problem with religious doctrines and that is on a denomination and sometimes even church by church basis. But i happen to know there are several great churches (including one ministry in Indiana) that specifically caters to homosexual christians who believe that love is not wrong.

if you have decided that christianity is the religion for you, then i recommend reading the bible and working on your own relationship with god--rather than allowing any church to filter the information for you.

Now some people on here think i'm a hypocrit for answering you like this when i am an atheist. i feel those people need to preach less and open their mind more. however, the point is you posted the question. the question doesn't ask me if My opinion is that you should believe in god. The question is "can a christian believe in gay rights and pro-choice" and it is my belief that a True Christian would not allow herself the ability to pass judgement when the bible specifically says that is god and god alone's right.

hope this helps!

I think you can. After all Christian just means follower of Christ. Christ never said a word about Gays. Personally I don't think he would be against gay rights at all. And whether you believe it or not, abortion is mentioned in the bible (in the OT) and it's not condemned.

"And when he hath made her drink the water, then it shall come to pass, that, if she be defiled, and have done trespass against her husband, that the water that causeth the curse shall enter into her, and become bitter, and her belly shall swell, and her thigh shall rot: and the woman shall be a curse among her people. And if the woman be not defiled, but be clean; then she shall be free, and shall conceive seed." (Numbers 5:27-28)

Regardless of how ridiculous this procedure might seem, any person who believes every word of the Bible must come to terms with the realization that the God of the bible does sometimes authorize abortion. In the case quoted above, because of adultery.

Certainly you can. All you need to do in order to be a Christian is to believe in Jesus, follow his teachings and accept that God raised Jesus from the dead.

Check out Romans 10:9 and John 6:47. I'd suggest you read the chapter that holds each of these verses but they tell it all.

Well, didn't Jesus himself teach equality for all people, togetherness and free will? What's wrong with that? You are a Christian for believing in Christ's teachings, and not for believing in fundamentalistic church dogma and historiography of the Jews from the Old Testimony (no offence for the Jews, I just believe that is what the OT is, really).

Do you believe in the Holy Trinity, Easter, and the week before? Then you're Christian. I don't prefer gay rights but I accept them, and I'm Catholic (Christian type of religion.)

not if you believe in the bible. the word still in your question implies you believe you are a christian, but after careful consideration of what the bible really says all of what is being taught in your church condemns the masses actions. so continue to study gods word daily and keep asking yourself
what would Jesus do.

It depends on your denomanation. Baptist?Methodist?Luthern? Baptists believe that as long as you believe in JC you are saved. But,that doesn't mean not to follow the Bible

If you believe in those things, then you are not a Christian

you need to open the bible, read it, and then decide if it is something you can follow
