Immigration authorities said Wednesday the man arrested on suspicion of causing the drunken head-on crash on Sunset Blvd. that killed movie director Robert Clark was in the United States illegally.
Clark's 22-year-old son Ariel was also killed in the wreck.
Hector Velazquez-Nava was booked on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter and was being held on $100,000 bail.
Police said he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash and was driving without a driver license.
Velazquez-Nava is a Mexican national with no record of previous deportations, said Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman Virginia Kice.

chulapan…if you researched you find over 10 Americans are dead as a result of illegal aliens drinking habits. This is more of the norm now. Thank you, Lorreta for the very good link!

This is the second in a week. the other was the two teen age girls.
And just a couple days before that it was a middle aged woman and her daughter who was five months pregnant, all killed by an illegal who was repeatedly convicted for DWI but never deported.
Just as was reported a month or so ago, the illegals are killing more Americans here at home than are being killed in combat operations worldwide.
Hello George Bush, it's time to wake up and secure our borders!

As I have answered similiar question before, most of the people just don't get it and do not understand the true issue of immigration. The current flux of immigration is economical and nothing else. If the economic aspect of immigration is not looked at, no matter how high the fence or how tolerant of illegal immigrants, the problem will not be solved.
I also loathe to repeat myself. For details:

I don't think it really matters if he is legal or illegal the point is he was DRIVING DRUNK and not only illegals do that, sadly American citizens are doing it too.
There are so many people killed by drunk drivers that something should be done about it, the media is going overboard with this particular incident because it "sells" and they want to make as much $ as they can, if the killer was a citizen they probably will not be making so much fuzz about Who was driving they probably just say "a drunk driver". It is a great loss and they should focus on that, not in the legal status of the person who kill them.
I am not pro illegal immigration but I am pro media telling the truth and informing people of the things that matter.

If i am killed by an illegal immigrant, do i get a free funeral?
If i am run over by a legal resident, do i get to haunt him?
American citizens drink and drive and cause much grief.
The issue is a psycho-medical one. The choice is to treat people as well as we can. not cause them pain.
A piece of paper or a tall fence will not keep the streets safe.

What sickens me is here in the little town where I live in Wisconsin, an illegal alien hit and killed a little 4 year old boy. The idiot judge set his bail at $1000. His family paid bail, and he went back to Mexico. Then there was a white man, hit and killed a woman and injured her little one crossing the street. It was his 7th OWI and his license had been suspended. He got 90 days in jail, a $10,000 fine and has to go to alcohol assessment......People here keep bashing the cops and blaming them. Which is rediculous. The fault lies within the Liberal Judicial System. And because of these lenient judges, more and more illegal aliens come piling in and more and more drunks get off scott free. No matter what color you are. But the illegals are crying because their rights are being violated. WTF??!! If you are here illegally, YOU HAVE NO RIGHTS!!!

This is not an immigration issue. No matter what color you are DRUNK DRIVING IS WRONG.
I say those who kill while driving impaired by drugs or alcohol deserve death.
That should take care of those who deserve to die.
Those who kill while driving impaired, i.e. sleep deprivation, using a cell phone, applying makeup etc. should get a life of abject slavery where they work 14 hours a day everyday to provide financially for the families of those they killed.
This would change the terrible statistics.

What ever happened to that 'war on drugs' that is suppose to be happening? Thank God that the police in El Paso stopped them - cause then it can't be said that it was limited to just border agents - that they were assisting officers that were in pursuit just as they were going to pull off. 823 pounds of marijuana - not like they could say that all of it was just for 'personal use' and had nothing to do with dealing drugs illegally. Sorry, but I am in favor of making such people caught put to manual labor to work for YEARS with earned money to go to drug programs and rehab centers - while covering the cost of their day to day needs like food, water, clothing while in jail. They need medical treatment - send the bill to their government, family or both. Drug dealers are nothing but scum.

People sometimes become drunk, and, regretfully, cause traffic accidents, in which people die. This is human. And it can't be compared to starting a war of aggression against another country and lying to the public about the causes of the war ("ethnic cleansing" or "weapons of mass destruction"), and then targeting hospitals and other civilian targets and using DU. Besides, the US is the one who still occupies Mexican territory for over 150 years. If you withdraw from occupied land, which belongs to Mexico, Mexicans will not immigrate to the US proper.

I like the idea that a few of the others posters had about suing them. They sure like to sue our law enforcement agents when they think their civil rights have been violated, and they actually win these cases.
I'm sure the bleeding hearts will find all kinds of excuses as to why this isn't his fault. Our citizens are dying, and they get off scott free. Something isn't right with this picture.

I think it should be found out who he was employed by and who he was living with or renting from and anyone who was aiding and abetting him to remain in the country illegally should be sued by the victim's families. If this sort of lawsuit started occurring, I bet the government would take notice of what the people want to happen with illegal immigrants. I also think some employers and landlords would think twice before hiring and renting to illegal immigrants.

Sue the friggin government for letting the illegals come over here....They want them here...let them share in the responsibility for these deaths!! I wonder how the bleeding hearts in our government would feel if something like this happened to them. Bet they would think twice about amnesty and leaving our borders open.
