... taken a journey where you left behind a job and loved ones in search of something that you cannot define? I will be quiting my job in seven days to travel to places where i have never been just because it feels like the right thing to do. I am not leaving behind children or a wife to do this, just cousins, uncles and grandparents.

I left home at 17, strapped on a backpack and spent two years on the road-walking and hitchhiking-before I ever returned home. When I did come back, I left again 3 more times before returning home for good.

I haven't a clue what I was after. I just know that even though I never found what I was looking for, I did the right thing by searching.

I envy you this wonderful adventure. Best of luck to you.

Essentially, yes.

Before I moved to Kansas City, I had never been here. I have no relatives within 250 miles. At the time, I had no job here.

The purpose was to get away from relatives (that worked) and to hopefully find a better job (that didn't).

I do like it here and don't plan on moving elsewhere any time soon, but ultimately I'm not sure that the move accomplished much of anything.

Not really. I've left behind jobs and loved ones, but it was because my husband is in the military.

That sounds like a wonderful thing you are doing. Good luck in your endeavors!

No, I have not had that experience but I do hope you find what you are looking for. The closest thing that I had that was even remotely similar was a very strong desire to see the Rocky Mountains and the Grand Tetons before I die. It was a spiritual thing that I can not even begin to describe. I did it and was awestruck by their majesty and have a strong desire to return to them. I don't know why.

How exciting. Pure freedom! Have a great journey!

I wish I could. No money and my son prevent that kind of care free life. I would never give up my son but if I could afford to take him with me, I would be gone too.

Yes, more than a few times. You'll never be the same again, (which is what you were probably shooting for anyway) and don't forget us. Al
