Please understand that a homosexual act is just one thing in a list of other things that God has decreed are sinful.

I'll show you some scriptures in a minute. I was hoping to point something out first.

Marriage between one man and one woman was instituted by God from the very beginning. Adam and Eve were referred to as Husband and Wife. Acts of sex were intended to bond the man and woman more closely. It appears that when a couple is closely bonded together, this is the best way to rear a family. It provides the greatest stability, and provides both male and female role models for the children as they grow and become adults.

Even present day psychologists generally agree with this concept. Nobody says that single parents are bad, but the standard two parent married couple is the best situation. The others are not the best.

In order to keep the marriage bonds strong, people were given a list of things that seem fun, but are not right to do sexually. It is not right for family members to have sexual relations with one another. Today, we call this incest, and most folks generally frown on it.

Sex with animals was also forbidden in the Bible. Today, most folks generally agree on that issue as well.

Then we get to the whole concept of sex outside of a marriage bond. The Bible says this is a sin, and for the early Jews, to whom God gave his first set of laws, the punishment for any sexual activity outside of a marriage bond was generally death for both parties. There were cases where death was not the punishment, but that did indeed show that such behavior was not going to be tolerated.

Now in today's society, especially after the introduction of "The Pill" to prevent pregnancy, our social morals changed and sex between consenting adults became a form of recreation instead of the special relationship it was first intended to be. This recreational sex has been getting us into trouble ever since.

Look at the hurt that goes on when young people succumb to the urge, and think they are "In Love". Then one or the other of the partners has an urge with another person, and now you have jealousy, envy, hatred, and all sorts of emotions coming out in the open. Of course, it is not just young people. Older folks get in the same messes.

Sex between members of the same gender fall into the general category of sex outside of a marriage bond. From time to time, though, God did point out that He was especially disappointed with people who took His gift of sexual expression and used it incorrectly. Sex is, after all, the only way to reproduce naturally. God did give us instructions to go forth and multiply, and there is only one way to do that task.

Sexual sins are sins, and sins can be forgiven. Homosexual acts are no worse than any other sin.

When a person has an urge to steal something and then does it, we generally do not have too many hangups when that person asks forgiveness. If the urge to steal happens again, we are still willing to forgive, although a little jail time is in order because that person has broken a law, and we are all subject to the laws of our land.

We should be no harder on a person with an homosexual urge than we are on the one with a desire to steal. God gives us the tools to control our urges, whatever they might be. You may have urges, but you are expected to refrain from acting them out. Stealing, or having sex, it does not matter.

This leads me to believe that perhaps God was right after all. Sex should be a special relationship, not just available to anyone with an urge. We, as a people, just cannot handle it.

So much for my opinions. Here are a couple of scriptures that mention homosexual acts directly:

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (NIV): "Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters, nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God."

Leviticus 18:22 (KJV): "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind it is abomination."

Leviticus 20:13: "If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them."

I have often wondered how there is even a such thing as a gay church considering what the Bible seems to say about them. But I visited this site, Gaychristiansurvivors.com and got some wonderful insite on this matter. (The site is very clean with no porn or crap like that.) Please go there and read what the pastor has written about the Bible verses that "allegedly" condemn gays. He makes some VERY good points.

I sent the pastor an e-mail and he responded very fast and seemed very nice. If you have sincere questions on this matter I highly recommend you e-mail them to him.

Good luck. Bottom line: We're ALL in need of a Savior.

I really believe I could get some serious thumbs down for this, but never mind...

I believe that some of the things in the Bible, especially the Old Testimony, should not be interpreted as guidelines for judging right and wrong - that could be the case with gay/lesbian people. I think that, in that time, when the Jews just started making a stable state, there was a serious problem with population growth and, since their religion was a foundation of their community life, several laws were made in an attempt to deal with the problem. It is obvious that gay couples can't have children (remember that then there was no adoption), and if they have encouraged those kind of relationships, it might have turned out even dangerous. Similar to this is another proposition from the OT, concerning that a woman is unclean during her monthly period, and some time after it. This means, among other things, that her husband must not have sexual intercourse with her during that time. It does not surprise that it is the time when she is most certainly unable to conceive. There are other, hygienic, reasons for this, but the one I stated is also very likely. Like I've said, there are plenty of laws with a similar purpose.

What I'm trying to say is that the Book, and especially the Old Testimony, is not always up-to-date and definitely when it comes down to your friends, you should remember what Christ himself taught trough the Gosspels, for that is what matters the most. He did say that he has come to change the old ways...

One passage is found in 1 Corinthians 6:9 and on. It says;

"Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards, nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God ....... "

As for how you should feel about it ..... let them take it up with God themselves. You can point out the passages but you shouldn't leave your friends over it. Let them know you don't quite know what to think about it and leave it at that.

Romans 1:24 "Therefore God, in keeping with the desires of their hearts, gave them up to uncleanness, that their bodies might be dishonored among them, 25 even those who exchanged the truth of God for the lie and venerated and rendered sacred service to the creation rather than the One who created, who is blessed forever. Amen. 26 That is why God gave them up to disgraceful sexual appetites, for both their females changed the natural use of themselves into one contrary to nature; 27 and likewise even the males left the natural use of the female and became violently inflamed in their lust toward one another, males with males, working what is obscene and receiving in themselves the full recompense, which was due for their error."

It's pretty hard to take that as meaning anything but what it says.

Genesis 18-19 Sodom and Gomorrah.¶

Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

Rom 1:19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed [it] unto them.

Rom 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, [even] his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

Rom 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified [him] not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

Rom 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

Rom 1:23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

Rom 1:24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:

Rom 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

Rom 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

Rom 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

Rom 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in [their] knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

Rom 1:29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

Rom 1:30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

Rom 1:31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

Rom 1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Bibles are written by fallable humans. What makes anyone here doubt that those who wrote the bible and the new testament are heterosexual and in the majority.

Personally, God made everyone. So if we're defective or in the minority, that's all part of the plan no matter what men wrote about it.
