Fred Phelps is the leader of the Westboro Baptist Church. They are the organization who went around to various military funerals and protested them while holding up signs claiming that the dead soldiers was God's vengeance for America allowing homosexuals to live in relative harmony here.
His entire church is made up of inbreeding specimens from his own family tree.
They are so absolutely repulsive that even the conservatives at Fox News can't stand their stupidity.

Google Westboro Baptist Church.
Ever hear of the religious group that celebrate at military funerals, holding signs that say "Thank God For Dead Soldiers"? How about the protestors whose famous catchphrase is "God Hates Fags"?
That would be Fred Phelps. He's the pastor of Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas. Its basically just made up of his relatives, and his version of christianity is probably enough to make the bones of Jesus roll around in his tomb.
Here, if you ever happen to swallow a few tablespoons of Draino and need to induce vomiting, just check out his webpage: http://www.godhatesfags.com

I saw the BBC documentary on his group. There is no way that he speaks for Christianity.
I hope that no one takes his word as being representative of the beliefs and practices of Christians.
I think if you look on youtube for "the worst family in america" or something along those lines you will find the documentary there.

He has a Baptist church in Kansas and is a nut. He goes around to funerals, esp those of soldiers and protests about gays, saying God killed the soldier, etc because of the gays. One of his most heinous acts is when the disaster at the Sago Mine in WV, his cult said they died cause of gays. Its one thing to tell a sinner that he needs to repent as is a preacher's job, but to protest at funerals is tacky. He is a blemish to all Baptists.

The pastor and leader of the Westboro Baptist Church (WBC), an independent Baptist church in Topeka, Kansas. WBC is listed as a "hate group" by the Southern Poverty Law Center. He is known for preaching with slogans and banners denoting phrases such as "God hates fags," "AIDS cures fags," and "Fags die, God laughs (or mocks)," and claims that God will punish homosexuals as well as people such as Bill O'Reilly, Coretta Scott King, and Howard Dean, whom his church considers "f@g-enablers". His church says he is a "Five-Point Calvinist".
Phelps and his followers frequently picket various events, especially military funerals, gay pride gatherings, and high-profile political gatherings, arguing it is their sacred duty to warn others of God's anger. When criticized, Phelps' followers say they are protected in doing so by the First Amendment. President Bush recently signed the Respect for America's Fallen Heroes Act in response to Phelps' protests at military funerals.
Phelps says that he is a preacher who believes that homosexuality and its acceptance have doomed most of the world to eternal damnation.
The group is built around a core of anti-homosexual theology, with many of their activities stemming from the slogan "God hates fags," which is also the name of the group's main website. Gay rights activists, as well as Christians of virtually every denomination, have denounced him as a producer of anti-gay propaganda and violence-inspiring hate speech.

A major homophobe who constantly thinks and talks about sodomy.
One of his tactics is to show up at the funerals of soldiers killed in Iraq and bring his family to protest that they deserved to die for defending a nation that allows homosexuals to live in it.

He's a horrible sorry excuse for a human being who is probably a closet homosexual so he attacks them to cover up his tracks.
