I plan on taking a FL in college and the one's that I really want I cant take, so I have to choose between Latin, Greek, Russian or Gaelic. Ive had 2 years of German and 2 of French, and would like any opinion on which would seem the easiest to learn. I dont plan on using the language to go to the place, just for enjoyment. But part of me thinks Latin would be interesting to know and be able to say I know.

Latin would be easiest of those four, since you are an English speaker with some instruction in French. You'll find that most of the words are familiar.

In English, we have some word sets that are all from the same original word, one from English, one from French, one from Latin. The English is more 'natural' feeling, the French is 'elevated', and the Latin is usually technical. For example:

Lawful: from English 'law'
Loyal: from French 'loi'
Legal: from Latin 'lex'

Hearty: from English 'heart'
Cordial: from French 'coeur'
Cardiac: from Latin 'cor, cordis'

Well I've taken Latin and since French is derived from Latin you'd probably recognize some vocabulary, although Latin is definitely much harder than French, as I'm currently taking my 3rd year of French.

Ultimately it depends on what you want. Do you want a language you can speak to others with? If so, Latin is probably not for you. If you want to learn other languages in the future, then you may like Latin since it makes the romance languages easier to learn.

You should probably also consider that Russian has a different alphabet. You should take a look at it and see if it would be easy for you to learn.

If you want a useful language, then Russian. Latin would be the easiest of the four.

I, personally, wouldn't reccomend learning Gaelic, unless you're going for a language because of its sheer beauty.

I think it would be awesome to learn Gaelic, I've wanted to learn it for a long time. If you're good with languages and learning new concepts, I say Gaelic.

It depends on your lifestyle. Most words are from latin, so that would be beneficial. If you plan on studying in Russia, Greece, Germany, or France, pick their language. Good Luck! :]
