If Solomon's temple was destroyed a long time ago and God no longer lives there. A reconstucted temple of Solomon still isn't the real thing because God's not there anymore, he no longer dwells there, it's just a building. So, how can it be the temple of God? Or maybe the temple stands for something else?

well, if i can offer an opinion.
If god is almighty, then he is everywhere.
A building is just a shell, so what happens inside makes it a temple.
As for if he dwells there, maybe he chooses not to show him self to all people, or maybe we are not really looking for him.
As for the Antichrist. I have to believe that he is active now.
Just an observation based on all the evil in the world with bombers, terrorists and war.
there is a lot of hate right now
Some people further that hate.
9/11 is a perfect example of how they are among us.
Those people were neighbours or friends or class mates or coworkers of someone

There have been three temple already: Solomon's, the one rebuild after the Captivity by Ezra, and the one that stood at the time Jesus, build by Herod the Great.

Ezekiel shows in a vision then presence of God leaving the Temple of Solomon before it was destroyed. And there is no reference that God ever dwelled in either of the other two temples.

As Jesus recognized that third temple, which was not Solomon's temple, as a true Temple of God, there is no valid Bible reason to reject a fourth temple as being the "Temple of God".

Yes it does.
There is no temple now.
They aren't even trying to build one.

However, the temple of God exists.
As is written:
1 Cor 3:16 Do you not know that you are a temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
1 Cor 3:17 If any man destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him, for the temple of God is holy, and that is what you are.

Sort of gives credence to the theory that The anti Christ is more of a mental attitude then a single person.
Anti does mean against.
Against Christ would be a mental attitude.

Therefore within the person.

In effect unbelief. OLAY!

The Temple is going to be rebuild (a sign that we are nearing the end) and the Jewish people will resume worship there and when the antichrist has come to power (this will be an individual) he will then go to the Temple of God to assume a place there as if he were God...however his reign will not last because I read the back of the book (Revelation) and we win =)

Keep watching the news for little snippets of information about the rebuilding of the Temple...things are beginning to happen to move us towards these events.

Hi,
I specialize in prophecy, and study in the original manuscripts:
The key here is not the building he sits in,
but the location he chooses to "sit" in, which
is Jerusalem. It doesn't really matter what
building he chooses to "set up shop"in,
what makes him the abomination is that he claims to be Christ, and chooses his nest
as Jerusalem, which is the place that Christ has chosen as His own. Christ "married" that piece of land, spiritually and calls it His own; Antichrist setting up office there is
like someone coming in your home and making love to your wife, also spiritually speaking.
Some think a Temple will be erected before
He gets here; I don't think so, though.
Others believe that Antichrist will erect a Temple for Himself there - I suppose thats possible depending on the powers he has,
because he only has a five-month total period of time - the 7 year period was
shortened to a five month period in Rev. 9.-
anyway, to answer your question, the reason the verse says "sitting in the temple of God claiming that He is God" is because
Any house of worship set up on that piece of ground IS JESUS CHRISTS. That is the spot where the New Jerusalem comes down from the Heavens and sits, so whether or not you see a Temple there with your human eyes or not, its still the Temple of God that is there. I hope this makes sense to you; its hard to explain without dumping a page full of Bible verses on you.

Temples are being built all over the world by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday saints. It's not the Temples but the people in the Temples. An angel came to talk to zacharias in the Temple and told him his son was to be named John. Temples are for very sacred ordaninces including marrage for time and all eternity. No judge or clergy can offer an eternal bond to a couple (Until death do you part).

This is a matter of interpretation. According to some beliefs, the temple will be rebuilt as a "Tribute to God" not as a home for him per se. It is then believed that the anti-christ will take up residence in that temple in Jerusalem to announce that he is God.

You are speaking of the mixture of christian doctrine and Judaism as it "exists." Read Acts 7:47 - 53. to find out your answer as to what GOD considers his "house," or "temple" as you call it........It is not the temple of Solomon, for no child of the murderous King David's lust would ever be considered of the holy of heaven.

2Th 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

falling away is the great apostasy
man of sin is satan the son of perdition

2Th 2:4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

What is the most Holy place today, just as it was in History?
Dome of the rock in Jerusalem. Satan will sit there playing his role of spurious Messiah, and the "all" world will worship him there. (Rev 13:8)

Rev 17:8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

Temple? What temple? Last I checked, there was a mosque on the site. But if it is rebuilt and dedicated per the instructions in the Bible, that's all he will need.
