I've loved all my cars (refuse to buy junk)... however, out of all the vehicles I have owned, I like my Hyundai Santa Fe best. It's stylish, dependable, great warranty, runs like a champ!
You will probably get a lot of different experiences from different people which will more than likely not help you. Your best bet is to go to www.edmunds.com and research vehicles you like. Always avoid first year vehicles (they're normally still getting the kinks out). Stick with something that has been sucessfull and rated well for several y ears.

Well, In order (I think)
1985 BMW 325i - Great first car
1982 Renault LeCar - Bad, bad car
1988 Honda Civic S - Great fun car to beat on
1981 Chevy Corvette - So much fun I had to get rid of it
1963 Chevy Corvair - Found it's end deep in the desert on fire
1961 Alfa Romeo Spider - This would be the worst if I judged it by how much trouble it had - but so much fun!
1970 VW 1500 Squareback - Come on! Awesome car!
1967 VW Bus - Where the magic all happened
1972 VW Karmann Ghia - I restored this car ground up and then sold it to a friend...never drove the final product
.
.
.
Some motorcycles
.
.
1971 Porsche 911 - When I was first bitten. Maybe my fav of all time!
1987 Mazda 626 L - Yawn.
1989 Nissan Truck - Never failed. Never impressed.
1990 Toyota 4Runner - Great truck
1999 Geo Metro - Used this for a 90 min commute - great gas milage. Spiritless drive.
1980 Toyota SR5 - So sweet I loved this truck.
1993 Mazda Miata - This car saved me. I have driven proper cars ever since.
1997 Ford T-Bird SC - This car was the most expensive car to keep running of any car I have ever owned. And it was under warranty. This car was so bad I finally gave it away in 2000.
1983 Porsche 928S - This car was the best highway 1 driver I've had my hands on.
1972 BMW 2002tii - So begins the love affair. Now it's a race car
1976 BMW 2002tii (maroon) - Wife's
1976 BMW 2002tii (Met.Grey) - Mine with a sunroof.
1974 BMW 2002tii (White) - Engine transplant from 528e. I love beating sportscars with this.
1958 BMW Isetta - Hasn't run yet, I'll let you know...
1983 BMW 535is - The supercar. I love it.
1987 BMW 325is - Wife's daily. Completely tricked out with BMP and Dinan bits and baubles
1994 BMW 535i - My stoggy daily driver. Still rock solid with not a hint of problem. Still smells new.
There you go...Best is probably the 911, the worst is a tie between the Alfa or the Ford.

1979 Ford Pinto - Hey, it got me around fairly reliably and took a lot of abuse. Poorly powered.
1987 Ford Tempo - Slightly nicer accessories and styling than the Pinto, but pretty much same story.
1987 Lincoln Mk VII - Hard to tell. I received this as a gift after it was already 9 years old. Was OK car. I'm sure when new it was great!
1998 Buick Century - Great Car. Reliable, nice standard features, decently powered, fairly reliable. Had a nice ride, but felt more like floating than driving. Nice looking car. Somewhat plush.
2007 Ford Fusion V6 SEL - Just bought it last weekend. I love it. For a midsize car, it's got great room front and in back. Lots of clever features built in, good amount of power, drives nicely, and priced great compared foreign brands. You get a lot more car for the money than you would with Toyota and Honda, plus it's styled beautifully. Gets great safety ratings from the gov't and the Insurance Institute.

I've had 3 Toyotas and they were the most reliable of the many vehicles I've owned. Toyota really stands behind their products too. All the other Japanese vehicles I've had were excellent also (Nissan and Daihatsu). Ford light trucks are fairly reliable (but not the Ranger). I have a '91 Ford F250 and it has had no problems, ever. GM vehicles, in general, are the worst and GM does not stand behind their products. Lots of failures of subassemblies (alternators, starters, water pumps, EGR valves, electronics, gaskets, fuel systems, etc., etc.).

all since 1988! Cripes! I love the Bonneville, my Mom still has it - just 80000 miles. Loved the Expedition - except the electrical problems! The Cavalier was crap and the dealership bought it back from me!!

I've owned or my family has owned a TON of cars, overall the fords and mazdas we've owned have always been great. We had problems with all the chevys. Hondas typically do well, as do toyotas, I didnt have much luck with my VW and thats pretty common. If I was looking for a new car I'd look at ford, mazda, honda, toyota.

I've had Honda's, Toyota's in the past and it was very reliable. I just bought a new Volkswagon Jetta. Its got great power and very good on gas. I really enjoy drive it, but I hear it is one of the most expensive card to fix.

i refuse to buy new cars, but i can say tht i would nt buy a ford right now because of all the plant closings and they ae not making them relyable anymore. ihave to say that even tho it was old m 89 nissan sentra was the best car i ever owned. so i would have to say nissan, they build their cars to last, they are GREAT on gas and if you do have a problem with it they are relatiavely easy and cheap to fix.

well to be honest i just got my first car a few months ago. its a bmw and i highly recommend it. my family only drives bmw's because they are like the safests cars (along with mercedes, volvo, and other german cars). my parents bought me a bmw because they are some of the safest cars out there. like my dad has been in about 3 accidents in his, one that was really bad yet the car had little damage and my dad walked away from it okay. my brother too has been in accidents a few times and his car had little damage and he was fine after. they are just really well made cars. some say they are pricey but its worth it for safety.
