I posted a question about this same topic before, but i didn't explain it clearly enough.

I told this guy i like him, and he said that he likes me too. We've been on 2 dates, and they went very well. We talk all the time, on the internet and on the phone, and we hold hands while together. The problem is, I want our relationship to be "official" and for him to ask me to be his girlfriend. I know he's a shy guy, so would it be too forward to say "are we going out now?"
If you think it's too forward, what do you think I should say instead?

When the two of you get together and he reaches for your hand say to him,you no people are going to think we are boyfriend and girlfriend now holding hands and all, what do you think of that.

Ask him how he defines you two as in dating, boyfriend girlfriend, friends or just seeing each other see what he says and take it from there. It has only been two dates so it may be a bit premature to broach the subject but since you two talk all the time you have a right to know where you stand with him. he may think you two are dating and believe you already know that.
