What is a computer drive cleaner, and can it be installed w/out your knowledge?

My computer had a drive cleaner installed, and I asked before what it is, but didnt get a good answer. Can it be installed without my knowledge? If so, how? Is there any way to detect when or how it was installed? I can't find much out on the web. Thanks!!

Hi. I could be installed as part of a package. Find the program and look at the 'Date modified' column to determine when it happened.
