As a guy, this is what I usually do to get the attention of girls when all the nervousness goes away. He probably likes you, and you shouldn't be embarrassed by what happened.
There are two things that might be true:
1.) He truly is busy. After all, he did say "maybe some other time."
2.) He's simply intimidated. Don't worry - just wait it out a bit, and things will become less awkward.

He may have just been taken by suprise because he was just starting to get to know you. He probibly does like you, and it was just too soon so when you see him tell him how your sorry if you were too upfront, and that you only meant would he like to go out sometime so you guys can talk more in person, and actually get to know eachother. It will make him more relaxed about the whole thing. Say it basically just like that. Tell him how you like talking to him, and it would be cool to just hangout sometime outside of school. See what he says. If after you tell him this stuff he starts to not talk to you then just leave it alone, and move on because it probibly means he dont think of you like that, but I doubt very much thats the case, Im sure he most likely really had something to do, or just was suprised you asked, and didnt know how to respond. good luck ;)

It's quite possible, but it is not the end of your world or class for that matter. So, you got a few signals crossed. That happens to a lot of people.
Sometimes, people of the opposite sex just talk without a hidden agenda to get a date.
You're OK. If you think he freaked out, give him time to get over it; and then, the next time he talks to you, just take it for what it is...just talk.

GURL OF COURSE HE LIKES YOU!!!!
Like you said in the beginning he's shy! Sometimes guys are hesitant about going out with girls bcuz they are well...shy. I used to be just like him but now im not. At first he will be very shy but, once you hang around him more he will start being more talkative and happier and stuff like that around you.

He might be a llittle shy cause you asked him out first instead of him asking. But that s tricky quesstion, he is interested but a little scared of getting rejected. Just like us women are. we all have feelings and a heart, and we all want love in our lives. Good luck

Sounds like he's playing "hard-to-get" with you. I'd just back off and leave anymore asking to him. If he doesn't have the cajones" to be straight with you and ask you out, move on.

He could have really been busy. Also he may not have much experience with dates and didn't know it would be proper to suggest another time.

well it seems like he likes you, but how he says he's busy doesn't ness. mean that he doesn't like you, maybe he really WAS busy. If I were you, keep doing what your doing, play a little hard to get (guys love that) Maybe he will ask you!

Ok...are you considered ehhh...."hot" in your school? He might already have a girlfriend and is trying to get her jealous. In other words, he's using you to get his previous gf jealous. Or....he might actually like you. Good Luck and let HIM ask you out. I think you rushed it a bit. Ask around about him...did he have any previous gfs?...did he have bad relationships?....
