I have English Mastiffs with realy good blood lines that we were going to start showing this year and possibly breed next year, but they got together and accidently Lola is bred.

Where can I advertise to sell the pupppies? They are not due for another 4 or 5 weeks. I dont want to run an ad in the paper because I want to make sure they go to good homes....HELP!

These are very nice well bred Mastiffs, not something I am trying to just get rid of. If I cannot find good homes I will just keep all the pups! These dogs are part of our family.

Hi,
You really want to be careful about this, we breed Flat coated Retrievers, and basically you never advertise in papers, newsletters, magazines, etc. Their is an unwritten rule that most purebred dog clubs follow and you could be shun ed and find yourself on the out`s with a lot of other Mastiff breeders by ignoring this rule. Be careful.
I would go to the web site of your National English Mastiff club and get a contact from them that will help you out.
In our breed we contact the National club and they actually have a contact person that helps place litters, and advertises for us in the National Newsletter of up coming litters.
You probably will still have a problem though because the dogs do not have their Show titles yet and most reputable breeders frown upon dogs that are not of championship lines.
You should never probably show these pups until the Dam and Sire both have their championships and clearances from AKC.
But again, get on the web and look up the National club for your breed, it`s the best way to stay safe, not rustle any feathers, and not destroy your reputation among other Mastiff breeders that you may wish to do business with in the future for possible breeding's.
In the future know that if you have another accident like this and wish to continue being able to show your dogs that you can terminate a pregnancy if caught early enough. You don`t want folks around the breed rings getting wind of this kind of thing happening more than once.
Once the ***** comes into season put panties on her, they can be bought at the vendors at most dog shows.
Hope this helps you out,

Contact the breeder you got the dogs from and they might help, your vet office can help, and you can run an ad in the paper, but always ask if you can come and see the home they are going to. A local great dane breeder i know has a questionaire that all prosepective buyers have to fill out so she knows how much the people know about the breed to ensure they are looked after physically properly, and she will come to their homes to check that their homes are 'Dane proof' (but it really so she can see what kind of people they are). And she has a contractual aggreement that if they cant keep the dog for any reason they will contact her first so she has a shot at rehoming the dog first. It sounds like a hassle but most of her dogs go to great homes and while she has had some come back, at least she knows where they are.

Well you could still put them in the paper and to make sure they go to good families you could make applications to have them fill out w/ refrences and tell them you want to visit their home to see where the puppies will be living and what the yard space will be. By the time the puppies are ready to go to their new homes you will have talked w/ and visited w/ the people many times and you should get a gut instinct about the people - Do you have a good feel for people? If you do this should work -

Relistically no matter where you advertise you will need to ask a lot of questions to assure yourself its a good home.
