If you cant smoke in the pub, then you'll stay at home.
Thats less excercise, so greater obesity........you die early!
You'll eat more if you stay at home.
You'll get fat and spend more money on food.

By Jove, you're right.

Banning an air pollutant at the pub will result in people staying home and abstaining from guzzling a poison that kills brains cells and destroys your liver, not to mention contains an absurd amount of empty calories.

This will result in greater mental prowess and a lower caloric intake.
You'll be forced to find something better to do with your time than drink yourself into stupidity and make an **** of yourself in public! You might even be forced to engage in something educational or worthwhile!
You'll get smarter and healthier and spend less money on alcohal.

Does that sound about right?

Years ago in the 60's no'one smoked in the pub lounge it was barred but the barroom was for smokers my dad i always remember often went into the bar for five minutes without fuss but today's society i am sure everyone agrees has been made a dictatorship society i do not smoke but think the freedom of choice has been taken away from us all think about this my local council has introduced a wheelie bin system which makes you sort your recycled material out if you do not you get penalties while i am a waste not want not type of person anyway and like this system i still feel that the freedom of choice has been taken away......we have to live with it.........unfortunately

The clever idea is to get the message that smoking is bad for you and stop. There is some evidence that this has occurred in Scotland where the ban has been in place for a year.

Currently the World Health Organisation states that smoking is the 2nd major cause of death in the world today. Currently 10 million people a year worldwide die of smoking and by 2020 it will be 20 million. It is estimated that half of today's 650 million smokers will die of smoking related disease.

Gosh, maybe it is bad for you!

I am living in Ireland where we have a smoking ban for the past 3 years. As a smoker myself I fully agree with the ban. People adjust to all situations. Pubs build beer gardens with big heaters when its cold. You meet all kind of interesting people who you would you never normally meet inside. best of all you're not responsible for killing others from passive smoking.

I look at it this way. in the year 2007 if anyone still decides to voluntarily pick up smoking they are simply thinning out the heard and doing us all a favor.

As Larry the Cable Guy says, "You can't fix stupid..."

(rolling my eyes)

That is the dumbest thing I've heard today.

Since when is going out drinking and smoking in a pub a form of exercise that will keep you more slender and alive longer?

Fool.
