I have been trying to figure this out for days. Does it mean something happened or shined or neither? Thanks.

Thanks guys. I found it in a Silbermond song called Symphonie . The song begins with this "Sag mir was ist bloß um uns geschehn." It was driving me crazy because I understood every other word but this one. Since it is not capitalized then it's a verb and I am guessing means "Tell me what is bare and has happened around us"

The way you spell it, with an upper case initial, it's a noun: "das Geschehen" is a slightly old fashioned word meaning "occurrence" or "events".
As a verb, "geschehen" means "to happen, to occur"; the same form is also the past participle, relating to something that has happened or occurred.

The first guy got it right---it means happen. One thing though---it's spelled "geschehen". Where did you find/hear that word?
