It is okay to cry. We should cry why we still can. And after that, you can get over it. I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Still, be thankful because life has offered to you yet another form of happiness by having your dog around you.

I am so sorry. I have lost dogs also and it is devastating. I consider my dogs family members. Give yourself some time to grieve and then get a nice picture of the dog and frame it. A guy that I dated had his framed in a shadow box with the dogs collar, that was really special. Maybe when you feel better you can think about getting a puppy.

It'll happen in time. Just don't run out and get another dog or puppy. Take enough time to grieve and then appreciate your new pet as an individual, otherwise you'll be trying to mold your new pet into a version of your old one.

I am so sorry for your loss.
I highly recommend that you check with your local animal shelter or SPCA. They often have grief counseling services available for just this reason.
Best wishes.
