In the minds of the Judeo-Christians all the power is in the hands of the Male. So of course killing a son means more to them. It is more of a powerful threat.

People of the past live in the world of men and very little importance was given to women. This was the judgement passed into generations by men themselves as superior to women. It did not happen only in Judah nor in the early Christain world but it also applied in greater parts of Asia like China, India, Japan and Korea. Even in the Middle East and Pakistan men are regarded as superior to women. So, in all histories you will find it important that the "son should play a prime role in histories of every family." So, study first your history before you try putting emphasis on bringing down our God. By trying to make us look stupid, you bring yourself more below the standards you are giving us.

Back in that time period, boys were way more important than girls. Families needed their sons to carry on their family name and run their "businesses" when they died. God knew it would make a bigger impact on people.
