Most people say that fish is not meat because their religion says they can,t eat meat on some days [like Fridays and some Holidays] but I disagree . I think fish is meat or else they would be called either a vegetable or fruit and I don't think they are either.

Are chicken and fish considered meat?
Chicken yes, fish no. The Catholic Church's abstinence laws consider that meat comes only from animals such as chickens, cattle or pigs-all of which live on land. Birds are also considered meat. Fish are a different category of animal.

Just one of those Catholic rules that we follow...
but, from the biological standpoint, fish is meat, not a plant!

If it lived, technically then yes it's meat. However some people classify meat as only four legged animals while other say it's just animals that have legs. Still others say if it had a brain don't eat it, we call these people Vegans.

In my eyes it is. My husband and I argue about this every year during lent, since you can't eat meat on Friday's but yet fish is ok. I consider fish meat and I don't think I'll ever understand it.

What does fish have to do with religion? I doubt it has anything to do with it and besides there are no fish god or goddesses out there. Fish is a meat and that is a fact - check the webpage I have included below if you don't believe me.

It's all how you view things... I myself classify anything with legs to be meat. Fish has no legs, so I don't see fish as meat. Chicken... legs, Beef... has legs, pork... well, I think you see what I'm shooting at.
