"A formidable disease is on its way and almost nobody has heard of it. Ug99 is a virulent strain of black stem rust fungus that attacks wheat plants - a crop that feeds more people than any other food source on Earth. Since the Green Revolution of the 1960s, farmers have been successfully growing disease-resistant wheat varieties. But Ug99 has evolved. There are now precious few wheat crops anywhere that are resistant to it. The blight has already crossed from Africa into Asia and there are fears it will spread further into regions where a billion people depend on wheat for their survival"

Oh gorgeous one: You are so right. The only people who reject evolution are the ones who are determined to disbelieve it.

seth: "...mutated into a different form", exactly - that *is* evolution.

They will dismiss this my friend. When you are too blind or too ignorant to learn the truth, you will not accept the truth if it hits you in the head.
See Hannah just proved my point.

I don't think evolution is a fairy tale, anymore than a building that has taken shape from a blue print or a society evolving under education. I just don't believe in the Theory, as worked out by Darwin. God has no beginning or end. That is an unlimited time span. Do humans really understand space and time? God is the overseer, Jesus is the Master Worker. What you describe up above has all been predicted for the end times. I just wish it would happen faster, thats all. I wonder how the wheat failure will effect the Flying Spagetti Monster? It can't be good.
The honey bee's are dying off to, so we will no longer live in a land - flowing with milk and honey. The pine beetle is munching its way through B.C. and heading east. Our climate is no longer cold enough to kill them. Aids is pandemic. The ice caps are melting. The poles are due to flip. The west coast is due to fall away. What isn't due?

I think everyone believes in micro-evolution (which is what you are describing). That is far different than accepting it on a macro level...
Micro-evolution deals with the adaptations and changes within a species (that is, a degradation/mutation of genetic data). Macro-evolution involves the addition of new traits (i.e.- a transition) into a new species (that is, how is new genetic data created)?
Micro-evolution is an accepted fact, and is observable throughout nature. Macro-evolution is simply a theory, and it has never been observed in science.
Having said that, let me also add that I think the whole "creationism vs evolutionism" debate is way over-stated. Christians need to realize that the book of Genesis was never intended to be a scientific textbook. Trying to squeeze exact details of earth's history out of a couple chapters of information is just plain silly. Is it simply to difficult for both sides to admit that they really don't have all the answers?

Anyone who thinks evolution is a fairy tale is someone who ignores the facts, so there is no point in trying to throw any more at them.
We have been trying to mold the environment to fit us. Nature is always changing. Depending on the continuation of the current situation will lead to disappointments.... in this case, for anyone who eats wheat.

Oddly enough, the people who have trouble thinking they came from a common primate ancestor have no resistance to the idea that they were made out of dirt. No absence of reason there!

Ug99 (also known as "Satan's Sunshine Happytime Buddy") was evolved by the devil to create more evil in the world, thus making us believe that there's no way an omnipotent, perfectly benevolent being could possibly exist.
Really, don't you know the canned responses by now? Facts will only change their beliefs if their beliefs were based on facts in the first place.

Only those who seek truth will Listen. Others are too busy hitting themselves in the head with their belief system. People don't realize that mutation and evolution are the same thing.

I can't understand why so many people are so opposed to evolution. I believe in God, and I believe in evolution. I just don't see what the big deal is.

Yep.
If they won't believe evolution one way, they'll believe it another.
And viruses are absolute proof of evolution, wether they like it or not.
