Those Who Want Eternal Life Must Obey God's Commands (19:16-20)
The good thing the man must do is show his fidelity toward God's covenant by obeying his laws. These laws were part of first-century Jewish culture, and the young man is convinced that he has kept them, as many of us have avoided breaking the laws of our society (compare Odeberg 1964:60). But if he is really ready to submit to the yoke of God's kingdom, he must also become a follower of Jesus and submit to Jesus' demands. That he is unwilling to spare all his goods to help the poor will soon bring into question whether he really loves his neighbor as himself (vv. 19-22).
A person who has truly become a follower of Jesus Christ would not willfully disobey the commandments. Just as the disciples did not.
However, Jesus wants us to know Him in our hearts much more so than he desires anything else. If our emotional decisions, our decisions of the heart, are with His interests and in His spirit, then His commandments are followed. If we are willful and harden ourselves to His commands, we will drift away from Him. It's not about a checklist of commands, it's about the condition of our heart and it's response to His spirit.

Yes...why? Because there are over 600 commandments not only the 10 that are so popular. Of those other 600 commandments, Im sure EVERYBODY ignores them because nobody bothers to KNOW them. And plus most of those 'other' commandments do not really pertain to this day and age we live in.

All Christians are sinners, Christ knows that. I think the main thing is how you do it. God judges the intent of your heart and He is a righteous judge.
Yes I believe they can be saved, The blood of Jesus Christ can cleanse and redeem anyone anywhere.

God says he is "the way, the truth and the life." The only way to Heaven is through him. he is forgiving and with true repentance comes forgiveness. However, he cannot be blackmailed or tricked. Doing the same thing over and over thinking, oh well, he'll fogrive me may not be true repentance.

There is nothing Biblical about a death bed confession being enough to be received into the presence of God. If it were, then we'd all be little hell-raisers, and wait till the last minute to "get saved".

I don't think anyone who is actually saved would willfully disobey any commandments, but I also feel that Christ wipes us clean of our sins, too. Is that vague enough?

Jesus Christ was the ultimate sacrifice. Now all we have to do is ask Him for forgiveness and ask Him to help us and for Him to strengthen us and help us be more like Him.
