i think religion should be a personal choice. not something we're forced to do. yes, i would vote religion out of government.
i agree with someones answer i saw about a different question - they should teach a world religion class if they want religion in school.
something that would hopefully broaden the mind instead of miring it down in bigotry and intolerance.
just my thoughts

If it was not for the Christians(or illogical Bible thumpers) who wrote the Constitution, you would have to settle for whatever the government wanted to teach your son! You seem to be very unfair to Christians. If Christians are in the minority why are you so worried about the 17 states who have bills to force creationism? You want to force evolution as fact! To say it is fact is a stretch!

Excuse me, but I did not know anyone actually proved evolution! Hey, there is much more logic in creationism than in evolution any day! The people who are claiming to be decendents of apes are really the non thinking ones! Or what about the stupidity of the Big Bang theory? Maybe it would do your son good to be exposed to something other than what you are saying! Why be afraid to let him come to his own conclusion? Many great minds acknowledge the existance of a creator! Why not give your son a chance at logical thinking instead of your bias against the Creator? I agree with smokersmax the country was built by Christains who died for their right to come here and worship!

Actual proven science?? You're either lying or embarrassingly ignorant. It's people like you who are a hindrance to true progress. Do you know how much evolution as a theory has changed since its inception? Do you know that the famous icons of evolution have all either been demonstrated as patently false, embellished or at minimal, problematic? I doubt even Darwin would side with his theory in light of modern scientific discovery regarding the irreducible complexity of the cell and finely tuned universe.
I doubt you could defend this doctrine of evolution that you've been spoon fed. And what happens when we discover that evolution is not a satisfactory account for the origin of our species...will you still cling tenaciously to it?
I'm for the teaching of science in the science classroom. I'm not for the teaching of some interpretation (creationism). I do however, think ID theory is worthy of being put on the table. ID makes no religious claims. It does not try to trace back the identity of the implied designer.
But to turn to your initial question, "...vote religion out of your government?" Interesting that the very person, Thomas Jefferson, who orchestrated the separation of church and state notion, did it in a letter to a Baptist Pastor who was concerned that the "government" was going to involve themselves in the affairs of his church. Thomas Jefferson let him know that they have made provisions so that the government wouldn't involve themselves in the affairs of the church and hence the notion of "separation of church and state was born."
It is worthy of noting that while being the author of the separation of church and state concept, Thomas Jefferson attended church in a government building almost every Sunday. And he was also the Superintendent on a school board where he demanded that two books be present in school curriculum. And one of those books was the bible. So even the most liberal of the founding fathers would have broken all your rules of what YOU think government should be like. I seriously doubt the founding fathers would agree with you based on their character and the way history tells they lived their lives.

Um mm, I hate to rain on your secular atheist parade! Have you ever heard of "In God We Trust'? It is on our money. The people that wrote the Constitution were CHRISTIANS!....Hello! What about the song "God Bless America?" It is only the secularists and atheists who want to leave God out of everything. But make no mistake, this has always been a God loving country! That is why God has blessed America and made her great! When this changes, she will no longer be great, but will collapse and die! There are bills in those 17 states because there are still enough logical people in this country who can think for themselves and are not worried about being "politically correct!" Who would ever trust our great country built by Christians and backed by the Lord, to people who do not believe in anything greater than themselves? Sounds illogical to me! If you do not like America being a God loving nation, why don't you secularists and anti God people get your own country? This one is OURS! God bless America!

We should not have to vote religion out of government since it is not supposed to be there in the first place.
We do need to make sure we elect people who respect the Constitution and the freedoms this country was founded on. Dubya is not among those people.

I think we're on the same page if I tell you that we could have avoided Bush if the majority who DID vote actually did research on that twit, but yes, he did use the fundamentalists and various White House officials have admitted to doing so, while making fun of the fundamentalists.
Yes, I always vote against anything that smacks of over-religious rhetoric in anyone's campaign... I know some of them have to use a little bit, but there's a balance.

Wait!~ hold the presses! there is actual proven science on evolution? show me!
if they are gonna teach evolution... then they should teach every idea on how the world started... fair is fair.
why don't you homeschool your child and keep him from the horrible people in the public schools! he may see someone pray or something equally as horrible, like helping another person!
I would vote for someone who believes in something... who stands for something... and who isnt about limiting my faith in Jesus. what you suggest is exactly why seperation of church and state exists... it says the government cannot direct my faith nor tell me how to practice it nor hinder following it. and I will use my faith to guide me when it comes to voting for public office holders

I am NOT illogical. I have a masters degree and do not consider myself stupid. If My child has to study your idea, why shouldn't your child be exposed to mine? Are you afraid he will chose something different from you?
P.S. My minor was science.
