my mom is going for a local surgery and didn't know what the procedures were

With local or outpatient surgery the patient often goes home. I would double check with the dr to be on the safe side because some procedures may require an overnight stay.

patients that are usually having a local surgery or procedure done usually go home the same day.

Usually these kinds of surgeries are done in the "One day Stay" unit. I've seen people get a Hysterectomy and be home in time for supper.

Talk to her Doctor about it.

If she is getting a local anesthetic.. she will be home the same day. Usually you go in fairly early like 6 or7am and your home be 4 or 5 pm.

Hmmm. You probably need to add some more info on that one. I have had four locals and have stayed anywhere from 4hrs to an overnighter considering there were no complications. Then possibly a few days, but it is rare.

The doctor should explain all this to her. How to prepare and when she can come home. Local Surgery of what?? Her head, arm, neck , foot , uterus????
