If you want family with you in any medical setting it's your right to as the patient.

I work in a hospital so I get blood drawn alot but when they do draw it, they use as small as needle as they can. You can even request that they use a "butterfly needle." The phlebotomist will now what it is and it's your right to request that as the patient.

But just don't look. Hold you're moms hand and it'll be done! You'll do great!

First your arm will be tourniquet'd to make the blood vessel stand out a bit. You'll feel a tiny prick when the needle goes in but as long as you keep absolutely still, it shouldn't hurt very much at all. (I find it helps if I don't look.) When the needle's taken out, you'll need to apply a little pressure with cotton wool for a few seconds. Then a plaster can be applied.I certainly hope they'll let mum stay with you - you can only ask. I hope this reassures you.

Of course your mother can stay with you. It will only take a minute for the nurse to take a small vial of blood from your arm. It may sting for a minute or so but that's so much better than not having the blood test and the doctor not knowing if you have something wrong that needs medication. As you get older, you'll get used to the needles and not fear them. Be brave. You'll do just fine.

Honey, just don't look at the needle. Do you know of anyone who wants to be stuck by a needle? No. So you just have to suck it in and know it won't take long, it could be slightly uncomfortable and don't look. If you pinch your arm in the creaseof your elbow real hard (don't bruise it!), that's about the amount of discomfort you will feel. Yes, your mom can come with you. Just tell her to talk about something funny to you while it's happening and you won't even think of it. You will do just fine. Godloveya.

Yes it will not hurt and your mom can stay - if they don't let your mum stay then have someone else do it. My mum always stayed with me. It is not bad at all if you look the other way and breath slowly, the most you will feel is a slight pinch. And, as long as you don't look, there is nothing to it. Your mum can do the looking for you. Good luck.

Yes I know what you mean I hate needles to, to be honest yes it Doe's hurt a little but not that bad, just try to relax and take deep breaths, you are getting all worked up for nothing for after you will feel it was not all that bad so just take it easy.
Yes your mother can come in with you if you want, just ask them I'm sure they will let her. Good Luck

I hate needles too...tell the person who is drawing your blood that you are scared, they understand and can help you. Don't look, and concentrate on breathing in and out. I tense up and stop breathing and then get light headed.....so just keep breathing in and out.

I have a trick that helps me, maybe it will work for you, too.
I'm a lefty, so whenever possible, I have all my tests done on my right arm. with my free left hand, I pinch my right shoulder close to the right side of my neck. if you still can't ignore the test, bite down on your tongue. hope this helps.
