The best remedy for this is baby oil, or any oil. This is why so many people recommend peanut butter. The oil in the peanut butter is what dissolves the gum.
So, I didn't want to put peanut butter in my sons hair, so, I used baby oil, and worked it through by massaging it into the gum and combing the gum out with a fine toothed comb.

Now, I seriously recommend the oil. You can use cooking oil, like olive oil too.
Oil is way, way faster than peanut butter!!!!
Good Luck!

Well I see everyone said peanut butter but think about it, if you use peanut butter, then that'll be in your hair instead of the gum. But anyways I have been told from people who have had gum in their hair that oil works as well. Just take some oil, not the thick type oil, but take in the palm of your hands and rub some on the gum and just rub until it loosens, then the gum should slide right off. Good Luck

Peanut butter is good. Ice also works. Rub a ice cube on your hair and you will get rid of the gum.

welp.. even tho everyone is sayin peanut butter I'll have to disagree.. yes it does work.. but it gets peanut butter all in your hair & thats hard to get out to.. I always harden the gum with ice and pull it out.. that works very well! or I just use babyoil.. thats also works

Peanut butter!

(No, seriously.)

One time I fell asleep with gum in my mouth, and when I woke up it was in my hair.

I had heard the peanut butter worked well, so I tried it, and it did.
