Excellent idea. Right up there with driving faster so you get where you are going sooner, because everyone knows that the less time you're operating your car, the less fuel you use. Concrete tires and rubber streets would work too. You rarely see roads wear out.

That totally wouldn't fix the problem, because you would still use and require the same amount of fuel. If you're looking for a way to spend less on gasoline, try walking, public transportation, or a bike. Besides, gas stations don't buy by the gallon, they buy by the barrel... The only way to lower the price of fuel is for the war to end, approve oil drilling in Alaska and such, or boycott. When everyone decides not to buy gasoline, the stations are forced to lower their prices to get rid of the excess. So, vote, conserve, and protest... But please, whatever you do, don't quit your day job...math and science are not for you.
(unless you're like, 12. that's the only reason i can forgive such an illogical question. in which case, pay attention in school.)

No. The liquid in question is crude oil which is distilled to make gasoline, other fuels, and solvents. Each product is cut at different temperatures. Gasoline is one of the higher temp cuts. If you reduce the amount of crude, you also will yield less gasoline and other cuts.
..and if you produce less gasoline, the price would actually go higher than it already is.

Take a lesson from Canada. When we went metric the priceof gas was allowed to go up a few cents more a liter because people didn't stop to figure it out . Another reason we got was the change over was costly. Sure it was , but , like a tax, once it's there............ . My suggestion, dont even think it.
