Yeah, I talk to boys as friends... but, it's wierd though, maybe it's only me but, every single boy I talk to, they bring up conversation about girls, but, the only time they say a black looks good they talk about how light her skin is.... And if she's not light skinned she's white.

Ok ... this thing about skin colors comes from slavery... the closer to white you where the better your life was...so you thought. This is what we call superficial.... black people go through this all the time, and the media doesnt help... rarely does the media glamorize darker skin people, but they glorify Light skin, Pretty Eyes, and Long hair.... thats are closer to european features.... you find it more in the south where females tend to be more into the lightskin ... aka YELLOW or RED.... its sad.... but its a reality. To many people skin color matter... The light skin people during slavery where in the house and darkskin where in the field.... they seperated a race but shades of skin tone. Which in todays age still exist.

Some of the prettiest females I have seen (and I'm not gay) have that milk chocolate skin that looks like it's bronzed and soft as a baby's butt and I envy them. Darker skin holds it's youthfulness longer as well. I have seen plenty of light complexioned girls who were shall we say "Thank God beauty is in the eye of the beholder" material. Although I am light complexioned and seem to be thought of as attractive or pretty, I would not want someone who is solely attracted by that. Beauty fades but dumb is constant.

Tyra Banks just had a show on this but here is my take on it. Some darker skinned black women have a complex about being dark and sometimes it comes from being teased as a child but I have friends all shades, I am a fair skinned woman and one of my good friends is really dark in fact my niece is a dark skinned woman and she is absolutely beautiful and she doesn't have any problems getting dates or attracting men. I think men look at the entire package- they don't stop at the skin color (unless they are simple)

I'm sure you want a real answer to this question...I will do my best. I believe that dark skinned girls are just not as noticeable. It's not that dark skinned girls aren't pretty they just blend into the back ground. It's for the same reason white girls wear black dresses. Their gut isn't as noticeable as when they wear a darker color. Dark girls should wear something that stands out! Just making sure to use bright colors to accent good features not bad ones. And girl for heaven's sake smile!!! For all you know they just might be talking about light skinned girls to keep from offending the dark skinned.

I agree. It's also intellectual dishonest. But, when people mouth out a preferrence like that do you really think they care about the person at all if they're only going by the physical? That goes out the window if it's real. I mean, take a look at a painting of George Washington. Or Abraham Lincoln. Study those faces. These guys were married to guys with mugs like that. It had to be love!

That's a lie. I am light skin and I consider a lot of dark skinned women beautiful. For example, Gabrielle Union and Brandy, they are beautiful! There are so many others that I possible can't list all their names.

I don't think you should look at the person, but at the person who is doing the judging to determine why they feel that way.

Light/white skin has been associated with the epitomy of beauty - whether it has come through the indoctrination of the media, movies, print or from ethnic groups(or elsewhere). It's funny how someone who themselves is not light and/or have a mother/father that is not light and/or have family members/lineage that are not light, Can consider light/white being more pretty or better ? That's absurd ! Light/White is NOT Good/Better AND Dark/Black/Brown is NOT Bad/Worse! (1)Anyone who is light that thinks/says that : Hates you cuz they ain't you (2)Anyone Dark that thinks/says this : Hates themselves thru misconstrued ignorance from others. HOW SAD EITHER WAY.

I personally think some black women are hot but the lightness or darkness of their skin isn't one of the criteria, at least not in that way, in fact, the DARKER their skin is, the more exotic I find them. The big thing I judge anyone on is how well they speak. If they speak "street" then it seems to me as if they don't have much upstairs.

Its because boys watch girls in the videos an the only girl they see is a long haired light skinned girl around the rappers arm...they never give props to the dark skinned girl cuz she in the back shaking her butt and they cant see her face... America is so damn sterotypical
