Well then you need to figure out what is distracting you and take care of the problem. If it is your seat location or another student, enlist the teacher to help you (move you to another seat, etc...) Good luck and grades are really important. All you can do is try and do better next term.

It's great that you're trying to fix it, don't give up!
While it's possible that there's a bigger problem, is sounds to me like you're just a typical kid that needs motivation to concentrate. I had a high school English teacher that had lots of good advice like "Keep your eyes on the prize, so you don't wind up making french fries!" So the easy part is moving away from obvious sources... the opposite sex, friends, windows, etc.
Next, what can you think of that might motivate you? Is there a particular college that you'd like to go to? If so, ask for a baseball hat/sweatshirt, notebook, something with the school's logo/shield on it. It can remind you what you're working towards. Do you have a career in mind, or some possibilities? Try to spend some time looking into them and learning what it takes. Planning for a few years out can make getting though the day-to-day stuff a little easier.
You also need to find an environment that works for you to concentrate for studying and doing homework outside of school. Is quiet best, or do you need background noise? How about the library? Sitting at a desk there makes me feel studious :) Turn off the TV!
And please, if you need help, ask! Ask the teacher if there's tutoring resources available, or can they help you for a little bit after school?

You maybe should become a studious student and then you won't fail. Is anything anyone has said so far helped at all.Don't repeat the 8th grade. That would be popularity for all the wrong reasons. When I was getting bad grades, I went and bought a self=help book about how do get all A's or sumpthin like that. have your mom (or dad) take you shopping and tell her it's because you want to find a book on how to help yourself at school. She'll appreciate the fact that you're interested in your future and you can probably get some clothes out of the deal as well. Brownie Points always help when you are trying to convince your parents that you are growing responsible,(car, money, upgrade cell)

I would maybe talk to your parents and see if they would take you to talk to someone. My son who is 7 was having the same problems. I took him to the Drs. and we discovered that he had a mild case of ADD. They didn't find it before because he is not hyper and not a behavor problem. Those are commen problems in ADHD. There is a difference. Now he takes a small amount of Concerta. It's like having a different child. He is able to get his work done and gets good grades. No more notes form the teacher and it hasen't changed his personality at all.

figure out whats distracting you. is it things around you or are you just going off in another world? like daydreaming. things around you can more easily be taken care of. if its internal ,that takes a lot more concentration to get passed.try working on your concentration skills. i know, easier said than done. perhaps the work in school isn't challenging you or you're are not interested.

Emawee, you may have Attention Deficit Disorder, and that is OK, because the Yahoo Community supports you. Please talk to your daddy about this and ask for his help, meaning he can take you a doctor to make a diagnosis and who can write a prescription.
You have enormous potential and congratulations to you for wanting to not fail again.

When you're bored take up your time listening to the teacher. You have nothing else to do.
