Our Heavenly Father opens His arms to those who sincerely desire a relationship with Him. One does not have to push, pull, twist, and maneuver the Truth to those who are ready.
When one claims to preach the Word of God, but exerts effort which drains them, ignites heated emotions, and is fueled with a need to justify what they do, they are not led by the Holy Spirit...they are led by self...or other Spirit.
Humans can NOT convert, force, or persuade someone to repent or believe the Word of God. That is not our job!!
We are merely instruments, vessels, and temples of the Lord!
The Lord says: My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me (John 10:27). One word of Truth, inspired by the Lord, is more powerful than a thousand words expressed by man or demonic influence.
A true sheep, will weed through false teaching...and find truth. Why? Because the Holy Spirit will lead them there. Not man!

Christianity is not a religion. It is a relationship with God and Jesus. Too many people have Christianity tagged as a religion. anything that has a name attached as such Lutheranism, Methodist, Mormons, Catholics etal are religions. Too many religions have been deemed as Christian and that also is not true. Some how Christian has replaced protestant.
The reason I would talk to you about becoming a Christian is to ensure that by the grace of God you have salvation and eternal life. Then you have the right to choose to either accept or deny. I will warn you that once I talk to you the seed has been planted and God can make it grow. Plus I usually pray you are put under heavy conviction. It is because I care about your soul and where you will spend eternity.

To think of it, its a noble cause considering some people who do not want to be saved at that point. Whats the harm really? Don't we have the options to say no? are they like pushy sales people.
I find some quite nice and have exchanged ideas of faith with them. The problem with us all sometimes is that we think our faith or doctrine is the absolute truth. And if it is, what is the harm that others have a false faith.. to believe in nothing begat nothing... so no harm.
Perhaps is we share with them Christ message, we will find common ground. I say that there are many paths to God - and we all need to choose our own path. It will be the only one that gets you there.

Not all Christians do that. I am one and I don't go toting a bible everywhere 24/7 with me. I don't dress like I'm living in the 1800's, or stand on a soapbox and start preaching to crowds. I dress normal (jeans, boots, jewelry, heels) and go and do things like regular normal people. I don't hang out at bars or go to regular parties anymore because I don't drink and can't stand the smell of cigars but I do hang out with my friends of all backgrounds and religions (Christians and non-Christians). I tell people about the Lord and if they are interested, I then tell them more. If they are not interested, I leave them alone. I don't judge people for what they do or tell them if they don't get Jesus they will burn in hell. They don't make fun of me for who I am. People think I'm a cool person and respect me for that. I tell jokes, have parties, go to movies, play pool, email and listen to regular music as long as it's not offensive and vulgar. Please don't think that we are all like that-we are not.

It is basically the purpose of all religions to spread its message to others.It is sad that some do it in an obnoxious way.People should lead by example rather than promotion

Because they think they are the ultimate authority on scriptures, and it is their duty/obligation to convert everyone...lest others will die and go to hell.
It is very arrogant to think that they are the chosen and have all of the answers...I think they will answer one day for their deeds of pretending to be God.,
This answer really goes to James M. Since you seem to be so smart, did you know that you have the opportunity to be one of God's chosen people? No one says that we are pretending to be God. It COMMANDS us in the Bible to go forth and make disciples of ALL men. Jesus died for us so that we may have eternal life with Him.
