1 Timothy 6:10 Don't religious leaders lie to get your money?
Political leaders lie to foster their greedy interests.
So if money is not the root of all evil what do you think is?
My friend says it is sex. Who's right?

No question, The love of money is the root of all evil.: Ananias and Saphira both were struck down because of Lying to the Holy Spirit....but the reason for or the root of the lie was due to the love of money.

Since you really can't do anything without money, the love of it is probably pretty close to the root of evil. If you don't have money you can't take on possessions which require even more money to keep.
Some religious leaders lie to keep the income coming but most don't. It's not my job to police them. Most of them know the penalty and let's be honest, there isn't a lot of money in religion outside of the big denominations.
Politicians? Forget it. Insane money.

The love of ANY thing rooted in this world that takes us away from being a conductor of God's love, peace, and joy could be considered evil.
When we completely open ourselves up and be that conductor (a beacon of God's light) into the world, God brings heaven onto the earth (the Lord's Prayer) through us as an instrument of God's peace (from St. Francis' Prayer). How awesome is that??!!
I myself have struggled in the idea of making money and having possessions until I read a parable where a monk said that having money and things should have the same effect of a shadow upon the earth.

Sex. What a dumb idea. Sex is the most important thing in life, in the sense that animals that do not procreate die out. If no one had sex, the species would die.
The notion that money is the root of all evil is only slightly less naive. Since you obviously believe in god, then only a religious example would be appropriate for you. God is obviously the root of all evil, as god created all in your mind. Right?
