My fiance and I have really gotten into the idea of a friday wedding, mainly b/c the space for the reception that we love is only available fridays...
However - I am finding that no churches are available Friday evenings for wedding? I assume this is b/c of rehersals for Saturday weddings. Does anyone have any experience with this? I am looking for a church in new york city...

I got married on a Friday evening, in a church, but I lived in a small town.

If you cannot get married where you want on the day the place for the reception is available, you may have to decide which is more important to you. You could have the ceremony in a garden, at someone's house (if fancy enough); or you may have to change where you have the reception.

Our catholic church has Friday weddings and we are in Long Island, NY, but every parish is different. If you cannot get a church venue for Friday, then find out if you can have a minister or priest hold the wedding ceremony right at the reception hall. Set it up with a beautiful rose arch and wedding decorations and it will be fine, so don't worry. Good Luck.

I have many friends who have gotten married on Friday evenings. I think it depends on the church and time of year you are getting married. Getting married on a Friday in New York City may make it more difficult to find a church that is available. When are you getting married? June is a very popular wedding month, so if you were planning to get married in June this could also be why you are having difficulty. If you want to get married in New York City you may have to change the date you would like to get married in order to find a church that is available. Sorry my suggestions are not more positive.

We chose the pastor of a small nondenominational church who offered her church to us any day except Sunday. We chose to have the wedding in our home. The option of a Friday night wedding in a church is possible, but you need to find a tiny church and a great officiant.

That is pretty awful that clergymen are going to dictate to YOU when God is open and available to marry you, I would certainly HOPE that there are churches in this great city that will marry you on a friday night. I know Jewish temples are open for business, lol, but that isn't what you are looking for I am sure... try the smaller churches and if you don't find one, God will certainly go to you... not to worry! :)

Get an officiant, and have the ceremony & reception at the same location. That way you still have your religious ceremony and your location all in one. Or see if your pastor/minister is available at the location if the church is not.

I got married on a Friday and they churches should be able to accomadate you for a friday wedding. A wedding is more important than a reheasal and they can schedule the rehearsal arond your wedding.

rent out a bed and breakfest for the weekend...they have wedding packages that include food, photo, minister, cake. They have nice garden weddings. I have seen packages for about $2,500 includes the room and you don't have to rush around. Its all done in one spot and when your done you can honeymoon there as well. Nice and sweet without rush rush wedding plans

if you have to you could possibly have the ceremony at your reception site either inside or outside if its allowed.its not the best choice but it may be your only choice.if the weather allows could you use a local park or a friends home or garden? good luck and congratulations!
