Putting aside the present way that many individuals judge and condemn one another... AND..Putting aside the fact that some will say that Jesus never existed.
What does everyone feel, in regards to the teachings that are from Jesus? In other words, do you feel that his teachings (at least what has been written as his) are good teachings?
Set aside the fact that any of them are called "commands" and that we MUST follow them, and look at them as just suggestions in living a good life. What do you think of them in this manner?
If you feel they are good teachings to follow in order to live a good life, please tell me how you have followed them in oyur own life.
If you feel they are a bunch of crock, please tell me why you think so and if you think any of his teachings are worth following.
Thanks!

Reply to photogrl262000:: Wow, please point out to me where you've found that JESUS taught to stone your children or leave your family. (Keywords:: Where JESUS taught...)

Other than his random threats of hell (or a garbage pit, depending on your translation) the messages attributed to Jesus aren't that bad -- who couldn't like a guy who hung out with prostitutes?

Personally - I don't think he said anything new. All of what he taught is in the OT - including his two commandments.
Most of what he said was for the most part pretty docile. I don't believe he claimed to be the son of God any time in his life. If he did he would have been stoned on the spot. That's just how the Jews are.
If the gospels had been written BEFORE Paul's writing then I might be inclined to a different answer. But Paul really set the ground work for the son of God and the need for blood sacrifice. Paul's understanding of the OT was limited at best - and that's putting it nicely. He routinely misquotes the OT passages he puts into his letters and wrongly claims that sacrifice is the only way to get forgiveness of sins. The Gentiles he preached to didn't know any better - the Jews did and that is why they were so hostile to him.
It was Paul who really set the stage for the claims of the gospels. What Jesus even said we can't be sure of.

the whole of the bible is based on prophecy reflecting today's lessons..... when looking at the teachings called from Jesus they refer to what John Lennon talked about in his life.... also the woman of the wilderness also known as mother nature's teachings have been used....... John Lennon check out his music and his life's work..... mother nature teaches how religion is incompatible with nature how free will works for people.... how every human in existence must be viewed as equal to another how each contributes to a balanced society.... these are the things mother nature taught god.... and now god sees as valid.... that which built the religions are people who claimed to be god... like the ancient Pharaohs and emperors the worse being Julius Cesar.... the maker of the roman catholic religion ....

Some are very good. Others are very bad.People who feel compelled to follow them all typically feel that they are very good. The real point is what makes you think that you know what he really taught? I read the old testament (much of it) in Hebrew, and I read the English translations, and the discrepancy is atrocious, as it must be considering how difficult translation is. Did you read the original? Do you know what he really taught?

Bunch of crock because based on fear.
In my opinion people believe in god because they are promised to go to hell if they dont and promised to live happy in heaven if they do.
That is the base.
Next Jesus claims to be son of God
And , this is the most bizar for me :
God send him to earth to carry the sins of all people !
This last statement is such a nonsens for me ,
Why would God who can create universe , do such weird primitive things.
The more human teachings of Jesus are ok like dont steal, be mice to others etc , but that is something that any any one can invent, you dont have to be son of god for that.

Yeah, you know stoning your kids for not listening to you is a great teaching..right along with leaving your family.
I understand what you're saying though. Most of the teaching are good, and do tell us how to live a "good" life.

If you could summarize Jesus' teachings as "Love eachother" I would agree. But there are some significant shortcomings in terms of heritage, race, and of course, supernatural bologna.
