This has been argued, and many Orthodox Jews and traditional Catholics believe so. But practically speaking, you have to consider what God considers more important - people being fruitful and multiplying, or responsible and mature responsibility to the health of your self, your partner, and your potential offspring.

Also, if you believe God is all-powerful, how can anything be AGAINST God's will? If He knows everything, and gave us free will, then us making our own decisions is part of His will.

Ultimately - I don't care if God approves of condoms or not.

As for whether or not I use preventative measures so as not to have children, it's no one's business but my own. Even if I did have a child, s/he wouldn't be raised to worship any god, so I can't imagine how any religious group could be affected by my decision.

This is a big part of the reason why I left my parents' religion and don't practice any religion now - no philosophy can be the absolute Truth if it tells me I have to have unwanted children against my own and my husband's will.

Short answer: no. But the long answer would require you to say what god you mean, or what interpretation of God. To me, any god worth worshiping would not want us to go on having babies every time we got horny, just to be "all natural." I mean, what's so great about having so much population that we can't all have enough food, clothing and shelter to survive decently? What God of Love would want that? And why? Maybe the answer is we are not supposed to be so horny. But then why do we have raging hormones?

Mother Nature intends that we are sorted out, with only the best surviving. Fine, but we need to gain control over that nature, so that people who are able to care for their children have them, and those who don't have the money or the inclination can prevent having them. Any other interpretation leads to cruelty, one way or another. And I do not worship a god of cruelty. Do you?

No. God put the idea and ability to use refined petroleum to make ultra-thin rubberized substances into our brains, and gave us intense sexual desire coupled with a preference for NOT having children every time we have sex. These two combined resulted in the will to create condoms. Perhaps you thought that those desires and capabilities occured on THEIR OWN without God's will??? Silly.

His perfect will is for mankind to "be fruitful and multiply." His permissive will is for mankind to practice common sense and not spread diseases or bring children into the world that he cannot take care of.
