your environment where you live is not the only place on earth .

you Americans are only concerned with what happens in your own back yard

,what i dont understand is why do you people want to control the world ,but dont give a damn of what happens to it else where

this text only covers some aspects of global warming mainly man made desertification
industrial contamination ,the effects of the cities ,is another story

there are natural cycles in the planets life
but a lot is influenced by mans existance ,and this is increasing with overpopulation, putting strains on Natural resources and increasing contaminations as well as destructions of essential componants the ensure living conditions for all life forms

in North Africa,India,Mexico ,millions of people are effected by land loss and desertification and some have died as a result

in china, thousands of what used to be farmers are running for their lives from the dust storms that have burried their towns and turned their lands into dessert,

,the Sahara is growing by 7 kilometers a year
and all of the desserts we know are a results of mans actions ,and they are increasing ,not getting less ,in the dinosaurs days ,there were very few desserts.

collectively this planet is drying up because of bad farming practices like, over grazing and fertilizers,

each degree rise in temperature means 10%crop loss

and there is less and less water (because of deforestation),to irrigate this production ,
and there are less and less farmers to do it..
and there are 70 million more people every year that have to eat and drink and wash

who are overpumping deep carbon aquifiers
who are plowing more and more unstable lands because they have lost so many million hectares to desertification ,
because of bad farming practises ,such as using fertilizers and heavy machinary or over grazing

RISING SEAS
The northpole is melting ,and we will know it without ice in our life times.
this does not affect the sea level because it is ice that is already in the water.but the melting ice from Green land and the south pole ,are another matter.

if forrest are being exchanged for ashalt, concrete and desserts
what is gonna keep this planet habitable for us

Global warming is a very complex collection of many effects

climate change is caused partly by desertification ,and most desertification is caused by man

Global warming is in theory reversable, but it will mean global co operation between all countries ,and taking into account human nature and the world politics ,it is unlikely that this will happen,

At least not untill we are all in the middle of planetary disastres and it becomes a battle for the survival of humanity every where.

Both sides, for and against, have data to support their claims. You can't take one measurement and claim a link or the lack thereof. That's not how science works. I won't say that global warming is correct, however the general consensus among people smarter than either of us is that global warming does exist.

If global warming does exist, it won't be something we notice right away, and it won't be in Cleveland. For one, it'll be in oceanic temperatures. The ocean is a gigantic thermal regulator; it's pretty hard to change its temperature much. It will also take a lot more data than we currently have to prove its existence.

While nearly all scientists will agree that the temperature in the oceans has been rising, they disagree as to the reason. Many blame global warming; others blame a periodic warming and cooling of the planet which shows us nearing the peak of the cycle (it repeats every 10,000 years or so.) Also, those against global warming cite aircraft emissions and other gases we're emitting into the air simultaneously that help reflect the sun's energy.

It's still up in the air, and as much as I tend to despise Congress and their inability to make informed decisions on scientific matters which they know nothing about, I don't blame them for remaining undecided.

EDIT: If the polar ice caps were to melt, they would only cause the water level to rise about 8 meters, or 20 feet. I swear, people saw Waterworld and freaked out. Granted, 20 feet is a lot of coastline, but Manhattan isn't going anywhere.

I disagree. The particular temperature on a particular day at a particular location is not the issue; getting steadily warmer overall is the issue. And fact is, we can't stand more than a couple of degrees overall. The more the polar ice caps melt, the higher the ocean level. Way too many people live near the ocean, so even if you don't count any of the more subtle effects, having Manhattan flooded does not sound like a good idea, does it? Or any of the other cities on coasts. After all, population has mostly been along coasts historically, due to the advantages of ocean shipping.

Yes, it's a big deal. Fortunately, lots of people are working on solutions to the problems which cause global warming, and if they don't give up, we will solve the problems before you need a boat to get around in LA.

More violent weather events (such as hurricanes, flooding, droughts) have been attributed to global warming as natural cycles use the increased energy in the atmosphere. People affected most are the poorest - those that normally live off the land (and unable to obtain resources otherwise). So rich North Americans will be the last to suffer, and most responsible for the pollution, which is why the issue becomes a moral one as Al Gore says.

Hmm you probably wrong!why?because if you see that factories on other country such as india, thailand, china, philippines emitting dark smokes that pollutes the air and the sorroundings as well as the ozone that shield us from radiation the pimpled ozone need a waxy clean particle to wax of the carbon due to heavy dark smoke from combustion ehh what do you say about that do you like sunbathing in very hot and golfing while raining even the sattelite tells us clear sky and suddenly rain drops

Global warming is a phenomena of the media and the human psychology. There is a tendency to assume the worse. The ancient Babylonians forecast the end of the world was coming and they have been doing it ever since. The media loves to portray the drama of "we're all going to die" scenarios and assign blame and guilt. It happens over and over again yet it always works. Predictions of gloom always seem to be believed. It's weird.

i think that worldwide Warming is authentic and that human beings are between the biggest participants to this catastrophe (we decrease down wood, pave over nature, we pollute the Earth on a daily foundation no longer basically through autos yet in addition our industrious nature). As for political persusion, i'm a registered Democrat (that doesn't recommend that i like them, yet i like them extra effective than Conservatives). As for education I easily have a BS in Political technological awareness and an AA in Paralegal analyze. i'm an Eagle Scout and that i've got written numerious comments on retaining our atmosphere from each and every thing to recycling to Shark Conservation. I easily have study books on climate substitute, been on the internet and that i've got asked easily scientists on worldwide Warming. What i hit upon astonishing is that maximum scientists believes in worldwide Warming is a real theory, different than for those that works for Exxon. Heck we even had a political expert of the Bush administration that creativly replaced some phrases on an respected report to declare that worldwide Warming is crap. He now works for Exxon. We even have George Bush asserting that we could desire to decrease worldwide climate substitute (worldwide climate substitute, worldwide warming whats the dif). i think of that it incredibly is a partisan concern because of the fact in accordance to conservatives the Bible says that human beings administration the Earth, mutually as liberals attempt to locate a stability between our desires and the desires of the Earth. Conservatives believes that a stable economic equipment is paramount mutually as liberals believes that a stable atmosphere could desire to be paramount (humanity has lived with out an economic equipment, i do no longer think of we can stay with out an environement).

That's why they callit Global. Cleveland is just a small tiny bit of the planet earth. Heat in europe killed more than a hundred people in a single summer (just a couple of years ago)! and secondly glovbal warming too does affect temperature in the negative direction. that is why you have more hurricanes, cyclones and name them (because of rising sea levels)

Only because the politicians got hold of it and Al Gore owns companies that will "green" your business for the right money. It's the latest witch hunt. People never mention that in the last 40 years, the sun's output has gone up by .2% and Mars and Pluto are heating up. They blame it on us.
