How much would it cost to buy a gas tank for a 1987 jeep cherokee sport edition...... gas tank size: 20 gallons..... how much would a new one cost and where would be a good place to get it ?

You may want to try a junk yard...if they have a 'newer' wreck.

That's a dealer only item usually, unless you want to go custom, but for a swap out, you'll probably have to go to a dealer.
In most (if not all) states, it's illegal for a junk yard to sell a used gas tank.
One from a dealer will probably run you about $125.00-$200.00.

you can go to any after market autoparts website cost is usually about $150.00 or so .
